Digging in 🌱🥔
It was special to witness Borton students unearth potatoes at the end of the year that they had planted months before- hands in the soil, faces full of excitement, and that sense of wonder when learning comes to life. Moments like these remind us that some of the best learning happens outside, in nature, getting a little messy along the way.
As summer begins, we hope our Borton families can find small ways to get outdoors- whether it’s tending a garden, exploring a shady trail, or simply noticing the world around you. Even in the Arizona heat, early mornings and evening adventures can offer a chance to connect with nature and each other.
Wishing you a summer full of curiosity, discovery, and a little dirt under your fingernails 💛

What a fun and creative way to end the year! ⛳✨
Our 4th graders put their geometry skills into action by designing and building their very own miniature golf courses. Working collaboratively in teams, students planned their designs, created and tested prototypes, made revisions, and ultimately brought their ideas to life as fully playable courses!
The project culminated in sharing their creations with the Borton community- what an incredible showcase of problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation. We’re so proud of the creativity and perseverance our students demonstrated every step of the way! 💡👏

Last week, we welcomed back Borton alumni- now graduated high school seniors- returning to where it all began. 💙
They reconnected with former teachers, spotted pieces of their legacy projects, and reminisced about games, outdoor lunches, community time, chickens, and more.
These graduates came from Tucson High, University High, and Palo Verde High School, and are headed in exciting directions- many to ASU, some out of state, and even one to Spain!
From humanities to medicine, fashion design to engineering, their futures are bright.
Once a Borton student, always part of our community. We are so proud of these graduates! 🎓✨

Yesterday, we celebrated Borton’s 5th and 6th Grade Promotion! 🎓
Our promoting students began their walk surrounded by love and encouragement, as every PK–4 class lined the path with signs, bubbles, high fives, and cheers. It was a powerful reminder that they are supported by an entire community as they take this next step.
The ceremony was filled with meaningful moments, including 6th grade speeches and a beautiful land acknowledgement that honored the past while sending our students forward with strength, pride, and connection.
Our 5th and 6th graders opened the celebration with Borton’s traditional promotion singalong, and in a full-circle moment, our kindergarteners closed the ceremony with a joyful song reminding us all where the journey began.
A huge thank you to our Borton PTA for providing refreshments, and to our 4th grade families for setting up tents, fans, and water to keep everyone cool and comfortable.
We are so proud of our students and can’t wait to see all they accomplish next. Borton will also be home for them! 🐾

Innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship were on full display in Ms. Kelly’s 5th/6th grade class at Borton! 🦈✨
Students wrapped up their Shark Tank project. They were so invested in identifying real-world problems and designing products to solve them- like bendable toys that won’t break so easily! From there, they wrote persuasive pitches, created their products, and brought their ideas to life.
But they didn’t stop there… students learned how to use green screen technology to animate and promote their products for YouTube, sharpening both their tech and storytelling skills. 🎥
The final step? Selling their products! With incredible creations like amazing-smelling soaps, glow-in-the-dark bead bracelets, and memorabilia inspired by their favorite video games, it’s no surprise that everything SOLD OUT!
We are so proud of how creative and driven our students were throughout this project. The future is bright with these young innovators leading the way! 💡👏

From garden to table- Borton style! 🍕🌿
Our 5th graders celebrated the culmination of their outdoor learning experience by firing up our wood-fired pizza oven and making their own pizzas- complete with fresh eggplant grown right here in Borton’s garden. This beloved tradition brings together hands-on learning, community, and a whole lot of delicious fun!
Moments like this capture what makes Borton so special- students connecting to the land, their learning, and each other.
And the celebrations continue! Tomorrow, we proudly promote our 5th and 6th graders as they take their next big step toward middle school. We couldn’t be prouder of their growth and all they’ve accomplished! 🎓✨

Our Field Day was full of laughter, teamwork, and tons of water-filled fun for everyone!
From exciting games to getting completely soaked, it was the perfect way to celebrate our amazing students and school community.
A HUGE thank you to our incredible parent volunteers who made the day possible- we couldn’t have done it without your time, energy, and support. You helped create memories our students will never forget!
