Your elusive creative genius 11/21/2024

To all my amazing Creative friends OLE

Your elusive creative genius Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses -- and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person "being" a genius, all of us "have" a genius. It's a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk.

Another fan favorite is the Tucson Children’s Museum. We had a group go in September and they had a blast.

On Tuesdays we go out into the community for some fun. Over the past few months a couple of groups have gone to the Arizona History Museum as one of their outings.

Shout out to Dr Rex at Arizona Historical Society for arranging these awesome tours and ensuring a safe place to eat lunch before returning to Connections.

It has been a joy having Kyosa Allison with us for the past 3 and a half months teaching some of our girls self defense skills. They’ve also been working on their balance and listening skills!

Thank you, kansahmita to kyosa Allison for teaching us these skills!

Earlier this month we started a Tae Kwon Do class with Kyosa Allison from The Dojang - A Martial Arts Community teaching 4 of our wonderful ladies skills in self defense and confidence.

While this class is not affiliated with the dojang, we are learning safe techniques that are also taught at the main school.

Our Formal was a great success! Thank you to our team of volunteers and staff for making it a great event for our participants.

I wanted to make a special shout out to our next door neighbors, Tullia Salon & Spa for bringing our ladies in for hair styling free of charge. The hair looked great and they enjoyed their mini field trip to the salon before the dance.

This past Friday we sent home notices telling our participants about the formal this coming Friday. I wanted to make a shout out to some of the companies that are helping us make this happen.

Emmanuel Baptist Church - Tucson for allowing us the use of their gym for this fun activity.

Debanea's BBQ and soulfood for catering our event, with some tasty Mexican tacos.

Tulia for doing our ladies' hair if they wish. Just a reminder that their hair must be washed before coming if they want their hair done.

We had Special Eats come serve us lunch on Tuesday. Not everyone participated but those that did gave two thumbs up!
