We love Ms. Mariana! You’re the best!

: Meet Mariana Denogean, a wonderful Library Assistant and Monitor at Oyama Elementary School! For the past four years, Mariana has been a familiar and friendly face in the library, where she takes great pleasure in helping students discover the joy of reading. Whether they are hunting for the latest Dog Man or a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, she finds true happiness in seeing children’s faces light up as they check out their favorites. For Mariana, Oyama is more than just a workplace—it’s home! With two daughters currently in the fifth grade, she cherishes being able to work in a community where her own children are thriving. She highly recommends Oyama to any parent, noting that its small size means every teacher and staff member knows every student by name. When she isn’t at school, Mariana stays active by reading, watching movies, and spending quality time with her family. We are so grateful for the warmth and dedication Mariana brings to our TUSD students every day! 🍎

Due to a high volume of staff utilizing their personal leave on Friday, January 30th, 2026, the Tucson Unified School District will be canceling classes for the following schools.

Our primary goal is to keep schools open and to provide a consistent and safe learning environment for our students. However, due to the large number of staff absences at the school listed, we have determined that we cannot meet the necessary supervision ratios to ensure student safety on those campuses.
Please note:

Food services will remain available at all school sites.
Transportation will run normal routes as scheduled.

We expect to resume classes at all TUSD schools on Monday, February 2, 2026.
