This article was submitted to Pima County from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe in appreciation of the collaboration between the Tribe and the Regional Flood Control District.

Months of planning and coordination organized by the Pascua Yaqui Office of Emergency Management paid off on June 16, 2026, when work was completed to reduce flood risk to the Early Childhood Learning Center. No one could have known, but the work had been completed just in time.

Just one day later, on June 17, more than an inch of rain moved across the Pascua Yaqui Reservation.

Kinney Road will be closed from the eastern intersection of McCain Loop/Kinney Road to the entrance of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum from Oct. 1 to Nov. 24. McCain Loop will serve as a detour route. More info in the comments. ⚠️
