FLASHBACK to nearly 4 years ago when we broke ground on the main building…. The property is unrecognizable from this photo today! We have come SO FAR, but still have far to go to being completely finished, scaled and self-sustainable. We thank God for His provision, and we thank God for the future provision because nothing will stop the Lord’s plans for this community and the young people we will have the opportunity to love and impact!

The true definition of a Fearless Leader, or more accurately, a Courageous Leader who does not allow fear to stop him! The first picture is from 2012 of International Executive Director/Founder Aimee Dobbins and Uganda Executive Director Innocent Agumisiirize conducting HIV/AIDS education in a local village. Innocent had just recently assumed the top leadership role in Uganda, and has been faithfully leading the efforts since! He has lead through difficult times, rebuilding stages, recruiting and equipping leadership again and again, prayed through times of lack and defeat, built up and taught students in skills and character, walked them to Jesus and discipled, personally rescued, advocated for and empowered hundreds of desperate and vulnerable youth…and that’s just the tip of the iceberg 🤯 Much more to share about Innocent in days to come, but today we honor the man whose dedication and commitment to building and loving the youth in Uganda that is transforming lives and soon a community! Well done sir!

Believe it or not, this man, Henry, is in his 70s…. and he was an absolute MIRACLE for our building project! Innocent, our Executive Director on the ground in Uganda had tried many times to find him or get connected to him in some way, because he was the absolute BEST person in Uganda to advise us on our construction. With over 50 years of experience as basically the TOP Structural Engineer in Uganda, heading the department at the Capitol in Kampala and working on all the major building projects and the most impressive buildings downtown, he was THE engineer that Innocent wanted to have involved with our builld.
After failing to connect with Henry multiple times, Innocent contacted another Engineer and we moved forward. Not long after, Henry FOUND INNOCENT and contacted him to learn about our project! They went to the building site and Innocent shared about the vision and Henry asked us if he could be involved…. And went the extra mile! In order to make certain that everything was done perfectly and that every building material was sourced from trusted vendors and then TESTED for strength (many vendors are not honest and structures fail), Henry MOVED to the building site with the workers and lived with them for many months as the foundations were being built 🤯 He would get down in the dirt with the workers and teach them new skills! We brought Henry briefly out of retirement, and may now have the strongest building in Uganda! Praise God!!!

The excavation for the main building was a massive undertaking, and the deep and strong foundations took many months to finish. Many buildings in Uganda have collapsed and many people have died because it is common for inferior materials to be used and vital engineering process skipped to save money. Our on-site Structural Engineer made sure everything we did was PERFECT. His involvement and 50+ years experience was one of the many miracles God blessed this work with…. a consistent message that God was guiding and providing!

When we are FAITHFUL WITH THE LITTLE...

This beautiful piece of land in Uganda is the site on which the nearly 19,000sf trade school/business center/event venue will be breaking ground on THIS MONTH! This multi-use building will house the trade school (Tandika) that will be graduating over 1,000 students each year and will be teaching nearly a dozen different vocational skill sets to youth ages 13-26 who have no other opportunities and a very hopeless future. The businesses attached to each skill set (clothing store, Bridal Boutique, restaurant/cafe, cake decorating, full service salon/spa, electronics repair, graphic design/web design (and other computer related skills), shoe making, photography/videography, event planning etc.) will allow the facility, school, and organizational homebase to be COMPLETELY SELF-SUSTAINABLE!

The photos below are the land which has been cleared and leveled, and we now have a beautiful (not complete and beautified until the end of building development) wall surrounding the land. We have finished digging our own deep well to provide for all future water needs and run our own electric, and the pit latrines (outdoor toilets) are being completed right now! We are ready to move forward with excavation and laying the foundations in the coming weeks! What a life-giving journey of transforming thousands upon thousands of lives (and the ripple effects from each one!), and transforming communities in the process!

Some of the first artistic renderings back in 2020 of what would be the main vocational school/business center (Tandika/Masterpiece Marketplace), Guesthouse, and Medical Clinic. We ended up building one story taller and raising the central roof much higher for potential future expansion. Finished, the main building will be almost 30,000sf, and be able to fully skill/graduate 2,000-3,000 students every year!

Taking the LEAP to buy land so we could expand exponentially came with many challenges! Bakka, the region of Wakiso, Uganda that we bought land in, did not have a road that we could even bring our materials in for our new build…. so we literally had to BUILD THE ROAD to our land! This benefitted the community from the start, part of our larger goal to be building the community around us with everything we do ❤️

The immediate and ongoing success of this school and ministry is unbelievable, and we’re just getting started!
