Momentum Monday!!☀️
Please meet Casey. Casey reached out to Michele (Opioid Prevention & Recovery Care Coordinator) in June 2025 because he heard about Community Safety, Health & Wellness from a friend. He was in recovery from a previous addiction and eager to stay on track. Due to some circumstances, Casey became homeless a few weeks later. Casey then benefited from Michele’s advocacy to get him into Wildcat Shelter, followed by Amphi 8 shelter. During that time he got a job at a convenience store and started saving money. Michele provided him ongoing peer support to help his sobriety. Within a couple of months, he was able to move into his own apartment and afford his bills on his own. Now, 6 months later, Casey is working, living in a safe apartment, financially self-sufficient, and managing his behavioral health positively. Having Michele as an advocate along the way for a few months was a lifeline for Casey, and now he is proud to be an example for others that you can get ahead and stay ahead! Casey is one of thousands of individuals that Community Safety, Health & Wellness supported to stay healthy and safe in 2025, which positively impacts our whole community. Well done Michele! 💜

Throwing it back to Pumpkins & Pistons, the City of Tucson Community Safety, Health & Wellness 2nd Annual Car Show on October 25th!
With 50 amazing cars, 100+ community members, raffle winners, free candy, delicious food trucks, and great music, the night was filled with positive energy and connection.
Most importantly, this was a drug- and violence-free space that brought families, neighbors, and car lovers together showing how community building, social cohesion, and uplifting environments are powerful tools in preventing violence.
Events like this remind us that when we come together, we create safer, healthier communities for everyone. Thank you to all who came and participated, see you next year! 💜

Momentum Monday!
We’re kicking off the week by spotlighting Care Coordinator Kristin, whose commitment helps keep our community warm.. literally and figuratively. Every Monday from 7–9am, Kristin supports the Ward 3 Warming Center, where the community room is opened to the public for the season. Beyond offering a welcoming escape from the cold morning air, this space serves as a hub for connection. Linking neighbors with housing support, utility assistance, food resources, healthcare, and more.
Thanks to Kristin’s dedication, the week starts with warmth, support, and momentum for those who need it most. Let’s keep it going! 💛❄️
Thank you to Kristin Dave & Angela Murphy for creating an amazing community hub by being a peer first and creating a safe place for folks who are experiencing homelessness. Thank you Ward 3 for opening your community room to the public as a warming center for the season.
The Warming Center is open Monday-Friday from 5am-9am until March 13th. Donations such as warm clothing, blankets, toiletries, etc are accepted at the Ward 3 Office from 9am-1pm.
Angela will also be holding a donation drive on December 5th at the Desert Garden Gallery🌵
