🔴Fake Locksmith Scam🔴

Last week, we took a case report related to a locksmith scam that had been prevalent in other south King County cities earlier this year. The scammers remove legitimate locksmith stickers from commercial business doors and replace them with fake ones. In some instances, they will actually intentionally damage the lock in order to have the unsuspecting victim call the number to have it replaced.

The scam works in multiple ways. The scammers pose as legitimate locksmiths and offer a service to replace the lock. The prices are typically inflated and they replace the damaged lock while maintaining a copy of the key that can then be used to later burglarize the business or residence. They also retain the financial information provided to pay for the service and can use it to make fraudulent purchases.

If you need to have a lock replaced, do your research first. Find one that is reputable, has a business license and has positive reviews. If you see a sticker or ad with the pictured number or a slight variation of it, avoid calling that number for service.

We are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the pictured robbery suspect.

On October 15th, the pictured suspect entered a department store and approached a customer service desk. The suspect implied to an employee that he was armed with a fi***rm then used a crowbar to pry open the cash register and retrieve cash from it.

The suspect left the store on foot then entered the pictured vehicle that was parked in a nearby parking garage. An arriving officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it at which time the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. There are no plates attached to the vehicle.

If anyone recognizes the suspect, please contact Detective Mosley at [email protected], call our non-emergency line (206)-241-2121 or send us a DM on social media.

Our Nights A crew was busy with a variety of calls. We encourage everyone to continue to report suspicious individuals, vehicles and activity in your neighborhood and stay vigilant.

Shoplift 26TP05046
Officer Barker was patrolling in the 300 blk Strander Blvd when she came across a verbal altercation in the parking lot of a business. Officer Barker determined that the altercation was between loss prevention and a shoplifting suspect. The suspect was escorted to the security office and placed under arrest upon establishing probable cause for shoplifting. During a search incident to arrest, two containers of a substance consistent with Fentanyl were discovered. The suspect was booked into jai for Theft 3rd, narcotics violations and possession of another individual’s identification.

Warrant Arrest/False Reporting 26TP05048
While patrolling, Officer Kuehl located a suspicious vehicle in the 16200 blk West Valley Hwy and discovered that the driver had warrants out of Renton for Assault 4th Domestic Violence (DV). Officer Kuehl observed the vehicle park at a nearby gas station at which time the suspect entered the store. Shortly after the suspect entered the store, a priority call came in for a threat with a weapon in the commercial district. The timing of the call and the way it was reported was suspicious. Officers entered the store and detained the male for the warrants. Officers then called the reporting party for the threats incident back and low and behold, the suspect’s phone began to ring. The suspect had called in the threat to divert officers that he correctly believed were watching him and about to arrest him. He was booked into jail on the warrant and is now facing addition time for the false report 911 call.

Warrant Arrest/Auto Recovery 26TP05047
Officers were dispatched to the 4500 blk S 137th St for a report of an unknown individual walking through the property of a residence. The reporting party also reported that there was a collision nearby. Officer Nunez arrived on scene and determined that the vehicle involved in the collision was a stolen vehicle. Officers setup a perimeter for a K9 track. Before they could begin the track, a male matching the description of the suspect emerged from a nearby wooded area. The suspect was riding a bike and refused to stop when told to do so but was ultimately apprehended without incident. The detained male had a case of amnesia and couldn’t remember who he was. Corporal Vivet was able to ascertain who the suspect was and discovered that the suspect had no-bail warrant out of California and another $100k warrant out of California to go along with it. Officers confirmed the warrants and learned that California was eager to welcome him back so that he could take care of the warrants he had. He was booked into jail pending extradition on the warrants and needless to say is no longer welcomed back in Tukwila.

Malicious Mischief 26TP05049
Officers responded to a commercial alarm at a business in the 18000 blk Olympic Ave S. Arriving officers located damage to a door to the building and additional units responded to clear the structure. No one was located and an employee responded to assess the damage. It was determined via surveillance footage that an individual had approached the door and damaged it in a likely attempt to gain entry at which point he fled on foot due to an audible alarm. The suspect was not located. We respond to commercial alarms, we investigate commercial burglaries, we hold those responsible for these crimes accountable and we support our business community.
