Every student has something meaningful to share, and today Jeremiah owned the mic! 🌟

Watch as Jeremiah presents his skills during our morning assembly. He has put so much dedicated effort into his learning, and seeing him proudly stand up in front of his peers was a fantastic moment for our whole school.

We are so proud of your hard work and confidence! 🙌

Hands-on learning, big courage, and supporting one another. 🧡✨

Our students presented their Orange Shirt Day projects in front of the whole school today! To mark the day, they created tiny orange shirts using burlap and yarn—a tricky process that taught patience as much as art.

Our favorite moment? When one presenter admitted he almost gave up until a classmate stepped in to help him finish. That kind of kindness and perseverance is exactly what our school community is all about.

Our First Whole-School POD Wellness Meeting!

What a meaningful gathering at Quil Ceda Tulalip Elementary! Our school community came together for our first whole-school POD Wellness Meeting, bringing POD families together to connect, listen, and talk about the wellbeing of our students.

Together, we explored our students through the lens of the QCT Resiliency Framework, attending to the whole child — their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.💙

These conversations give us an opportunity to learn more about our students, celebrate their strengths, identify ways we can support them, and strengthen the connections between our school, families, and community.

We are grateful to our POD families for showing up, sharing, listening, and helping us build a community where every student is known, supported, and cared for.

Together, we nurture resilience. Together, we care for the whole child. Together, we grow.❤️

As we prepare for Orange Shirt Day on September 30th, our students are learning that this day is about remembering, honoring, and making sure every child knows they matter.

Today, some of our 3rd graders created their own orange shirts by sewing with yarn and burlap. 🪡🧶 What looked like a simple project turned into so much more. They practiced fine motor skills, patience, focus, and perseverance—especially when the stitches didn’t go exactly as planned. They kept trying, helped one another, and were so proud of what they created.

September 30th marks Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to honor the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and communities and forced to attend residential schools, to remember those who never returned home, and to recognize the lasting impact these experiences have had on generations of families. 🧡 As we learn together, we are reminded that Every Child Matters—that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, respected, and proud of who they are. Our handmade orange shirts serve as a small but meaningful reminder to listen, learn, remember, and carry this message forward.

Remember to wear your orange shirts to school next Wednesday, September 30th. 🧡

Imagine standing in front of your entire school to read your writing out loud. 🎤✨

For the past few weeks, our students have been hard at work crafting summer personal narratives, learning how to bring their stories to life with rich details and smooth transitions.

This morning, 2nd grader Astrid took center stage. She got up in front of the whole school and read her story with incredible confidence! Taking a big creative risk takes serious bravery, and Astrid knocked it out of the park. 👏

Drop a 👏 or a comment below to help us celebrate Astrid's courage today!

A personal narrative is all about the details and transitions..." but today was all about courage. 💡

Over the first few weeks of school, our elementary students have been deepening their writing skills by drafting stories about their summer adventures. This morning, 2nd grader Astrid took her learning a step further by presenting her narrative to the entire student body.

Stepping up to the mic takes grit and risk-taking—two values we love seeing in our students.

Way to go, Astrid! 🎓✨

🇲🇽 Celebrating Mexican Independence Day at QCT!🇲🇽

Today, we celebrate the rich culture, history, traditions, and contributions of Mexico and the Mexican community. ❤️💚🤍

We are proud to honor Mexican Independence Day here at QCT and to create space for our students and families to see their culture, heritage, and identities represented in our school community.

Celebrations like today’s remind us that **representation matters**. It helps our students feel seen, valued, and proud of where they come from, while giving our entire school community an opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate together.

¡Viva México! 🇲🇽\
**Happy Mexican Independence Day from all of us at QCT!** 🎉

We raise our hands to Mrs. Devereux's class (with the help of a couple former students) for sharing the story of Mudswallow's House at our morning gathering today.

Last week, QCT 3rd graders had a very special opportunity to learn from Tulalip Tribal Cultural Specialist Shylah Zackuse, who shared her knowledge and personal experience with Canoe Journey. Ms. Shylah helped our students understand the importance of the annual summer event & helped us make the connection that being part of a canoe family is about so much more than paddling—it’s about perseverance, teamwork, community, respect, and moving forward with purpose. These are all traits that are important as a learner at school too! It is such an excellent analogy!
Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it gets hard. We may get tired, make mistakes, or feel like giving up—but we keep paddling. We rely on one another, contribute to our community, and remember that everyone in the canoe has an important role.
A huge thank you to Ms. Shylah for sharing her stories, experiences, and cultural knowledge with our students. This year in our 3rd grade learning journey, we are “paddling with purpose!”
