💛🖤 Our Hickerson Hawks have wonderful people helping them learn and grow! 🦅

🙌 A big THANK YOU to our amazing parent volunteers, Alex Bell and Angela Morales, for assisting with our morning sessions! Your time, helping hands, and encouragement mean so much to our students and teachers. 💛

📚🎃 We also loved welcoming Leslie Warren, the children’s librarian at Manchester’s Public Library, for a fun fall and Halloween-themed story time! 🍂👻 Our students had a great time sharing in the magic of stories! ✨

♻️🥫 RECYCLING REMINDER, HICKERSON FAMILIES! 🦅🦄

To earn reward credit, your student’s aluminum cans must arrive in a kitchen-size trash bag! 🥤🎉

🏫 Please have your student take the bag of cans to their classroom so they can receive credit. Our ambassadors will collect the bags from classrooms during their morning pickup! 🤝💛

We gladly accept other aluminum can donations, but they will not earn reward credit unless they meet the kitchen-size trash bag requirement. ♻️

Thank you for sending empty, dry aluminum cans and helping our Hickerson Hawks make a difference—one bag at a time! 🌎🥫💛

♻️🦅 Hickerson Hawks Are Recycling Champions! 💛🖤

Our Million Cans Recycling Contest is off to a great start, and our Hickerson Hawks are stepping up to the challenge! 🌎🥤

👏 A BIG shout-out to our amazing Hickerson Ambassadors, who were hard at work today visiting classrooms, collecting bags of aluminum cans brought in by our students, and delivering them to our recycling bins! 📦♻️ These student leaders are demonstrating responsibility, teamwork, and service to our school! 🌟

🎉🥤 Today, we're celebrating KOBE! 🥤🎉

Kobe met his recycling goal by bringing in his kitchen-sized trash bag filled with approximately 50 aluminum cans! Way to go, Kobe! 👏💛 Your hard work earned you a Sprite and helped our school get one step closer to our recycling goals! 🏆

🦄 Hawks, keep those cans coming! Remember, students can bring in a kitchen-sized trash bag of approximately 50 aluminum cans any school day to earn their Sprite! 🥤

🍦 And don't forget—when a classroom reaches 100% participation, the entire class earns an ICE CREAM PARTY! 🎉

💛🖤 Every can counts, every Hawk matters, and together we can make a BIG difference! 🌎♻️

🦋🌿 MORE MONARCH MAGIC AT HICKERSON ELEMENTARY STEM SCHOOL! 🌿🦋

Our Hickerson Hawks have had another AMAZING week watching nature come to life! 🐛➡️🦋

Remember those 22 monarch caterpillars our students discovered on the milkweed in our Native Plant Garden? 🌱 Well, the magic continues as more of our beautiful monarchs have emerged from their chrysalises and taken their first flights into the world! 💛🖤

🎉 This week, our students released 6 beautiful monarch butterflies—3 females, 2 males, and 1 whose s*x was undetermined! 🦋🦋🦋

🌎🍂 DID YOU KNOW? These monarchs have an INCREDIBLE journey ahead of them!

🦋 Each fall, monarch butterflies from our area begin an amazing migration south to the mountains of central Mexico! 🇲🇽

🌲 They travel hundreds or even thousands of miles to spend the winter in special forests where the trees provide shelter and the cool mountain temperatures help them conserve energy.

☀️ When spring arrives, the monarchs begin their journey north, laying eggs on milkweed plants along the way. Their descendants continue the migration northward!

🤯 Here's the REALLY amazing part! The monarchs migrating to Mexico this fall have never made this journey before! Yet somehow, they know where to go! Nature is truly incredible! 🦋❤️

🌱 Our students are learning firsthand why planting native milkweed and protecting pollinator habitats is so important. Every milkweed plant can make a difference for these beautiful butterflies!

🔍💚 From discovering tiny caterpillars to observing chrysalises and finally releasing beautiful butterflies, our Hawks have experienced the entire monarch life cycle right here at school!

🦋💛 Fly high, little monarchs! We hope you have a safe journey to Mexico! 🇲🇽🌎

🥬🌱 FROM OUR GARDEN TO OUR CAFETERIA TO OUR TABLES! 🍽️💛🖤

🌿 There’s something extra special about eating food you helped grow! Our amazing Hickerson Hawks recently enjoyed delicious turnip greens grown right here in our very own school gardens! 🥬👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

🌱 Our students planted, cared for, and harvested these greens, learning valuable lessons about gardening, agriculture, healthy eating, and where our food comes from! 🌎💚

👩‍🍳❤️ NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK is the perfect time to celebrate our absolutely AMAZING cafeteria staff! 🎉🍎

🥰 We are incredibly blessed to have a cafeteria team that goes above and beyond EVERY SINGLE DAY! From preparing delicious, nutritious meals to greeting our Hawks with warm smiles, these wonderful ladies put so much love into everything they do! 💛🖤

🥬 This week, they took the turnip greens our students grew and transformed them into a delicious farm-to-table experience! What an incredible example of teamwork between our students and cafeteria staff! 👏🌱

🍽️💕 To Mrs. Kelly and our entire cafeteria crew — THANK YOU! You do so much more than serve meals. You nourish our students, encourage them, and help make Hickerson a special place to learn and grow! We appreciate you more than words can express! 🥰🦅

🥬💛 Grown by Hawks, prepared with love, and enjoyed by Hawks!

🌱 At Hickerson Elementary STEM School, we're not just growing vegetables — we're growing knowledge, life skills, healthy habits, and a community that cares! 💚
