Thank you to Jody, our volunteer who comes in for a few hours once a month to prepare birthday and condolence cards for our clients. She has been putting in this valuable time for two years, and our clients certainly appreciate it as much as we do!

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of volunteer Tony Winefield. Tony was honored at our Volunteer Appreciation event in April with an award we lovingly refer to as the "Tony'll Do It!" Award because he was involved in the most volunteer programs and was always willing and available whenever we needed help. But Tony's care for others extended beyond Meals for Wheels, as he also gave his time as a docent at The Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art, the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, and devoted more than 30 years to education as a history, government and journalism teacher. It was a privilege to know Tony; his impact was far reaching and unmistakable, and his presence will be deeply missed at our office. He will be remembered with great fondness.

A little damp weather didn't stop our amazing volunteers from Hilti from showing up and building this much needed ramp for one of our clients. As always, we are grateful for the support of our dedicated partner Hilti!

May is Mental Health Month, and at Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa, we believe older adults belong in the conversation.
For some older adults, isolation can mean days without a familiar face, a friendly conversation, or someone checking in to make sure they’re okay. Over time, that lack of connection can affect mental and physical health, increasing the risk of depression, anxiety, heart disease, and stroke. The U.S. Surgeon General has compared its impact to smoking up to 15 ci******es a day.
That’s why connection is woven into the way we serve. For older folks, feeling seen, supported, and remembered can make a meaningful difference in their mental well-being. A simple check-in can make a real difference, not just during Mental Health Month, but all year long. Volunteer with us and make a real difference in someone's life: www.mowtulsa.org

We were excited to welcome the team from Mariner to deliver meals this week! Mariner chose Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa to volunteer with for +Impact Day. We are so grateful for their service in delivering 643 meals over the two days they were here, as well as for their generous donation. Thank you, Mariner!
