Representation matters.

Not because every book needs to teach us something.

Sometimes a book is just a great story.

But sometimes a story gives a reader something they didn't know they needed: a mirror.

The American Library Association describes LGBTQIA+ literature as both mirrors for readers seeking representation and windows that can foster understanding, empathy, and connection.

The ALA's 2026 Rainbow Book List evaluated 417 books and selected more than 160 titles celebrating the lives, experiences, and families of LGBTQIA+ young people.
That's a lot of stories.

And every one of them gives a reader another opportunity to see themselves - or someone else - a little more clearly.

Access matters.

That's why Q***rLit Collective is working to make q***r literature more accessible in our community.

What a magical night!✨

We are overflowing with joy and gratitude after Once Upon a Drag at Elote on Tuesday night to raise funds for their own Q***rLit Collective Library.

A huge thank you to Shanel Sterling, who absolutely stole the show! From reading to the little ones first, to bringing the magic to the adults later, her performance was the perfect blend of heart and entertainment. It was so special to host at one of our favorite local establishments. 💕

We have such an admiration for Libby and everything Elote does to support the q***r community in Tulsa dn beyond. Events like this remind us why we do this work.

The journey is ongoing and we are still accepting donations to help make this a permanent home for q***r literature. 🌈

Visit Q***rLitCollective.org/donate to support.

Thank you to everyone who came out, donated and celebrated with us. We couldn’t do it without you. 📚💫

📚✨Check Out These Banned Books & Fight Censorship✨📚

These powerful stories- All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson, Gender Q***r by Maia Kebab, and the Heartstopper series by Alice Oseman- are more than just books. They’re voices, experience and windows into lives often targeted by censorship.

Why are they banned?
Because they share truths. Because they celebrate love, identity and authenticity. Because they give hope to people who need it most.

Why should you read them?
Because stories like these foster empathy, understanding and connection. Because every person deserves to see themselves in the pages of a book. Because censorship hurts everyone.

Check out these books.
Support these authors.
Fight censorship.

Happy banned book week readers. 🌈

🚨📚It's Banned Book Week! 📚🚨

In 2025, 66% of challenged books were removed entirely from libraries- often targeting stories by and about LGBTQIA+ people, people of color, and marginalized voices. This isn’t about “protecting children” It’s about erasing them.

Want to participate in Banned Book Week?

Celebrating LGBTQIA+ History Month & Tulsa Pride

This October, Tulsa shines brighter than ever as we honor LGBTQIA+ History and Tulsa Pride Month- a time to reflect on how far we’ve come and how much further we can go together.

From the Stonewall riots to the Trans Rights Movement, the LGBTQIA+ community has always led the charge for justice, dignity and love. Tulsa’s own history is rich with resilience, creativity and activism. Whether it’s through art, advocacy or simply living authentically every voice matters.

Tulsa pride isn’t just a parade- it’s a movement and a reminder love is love.

How is everyone celebrating this month?

We are looking forward to getting together at Elote on the 13th for Once Upon a Drag to help Elote get their own QLC library.
