Councilor Decter Wright visited Tulsa Community College’s Metro Campus to speak with local government students about how the Tulsa City Council works and why local government matters.

Students learned how the Council focuses on improving quality of life for all Tulsans through budgeting, infrastructure, public safety, housing and homelessness initiatives, and more.

Councilor Decter Wright also discussed opportunities for residents to serve on the City’s authorities, boards, and commissions, emphasizing that community members don’t have to be elected to make an impact.

Students asked questions about public comments, trust in government and public‑private partnerships, and many are already registered to vote! Councilor Decter Wright encouraged them to stay engaged, reach out to their elected officials and stay involved in shaping Tulsa’s future.

If you'd like to invite a Councilor to speak to your group, or to schedule a tour of City Hall, call 918-596-1990 or email [email protected]
