Our office was proud to participate in this event to talk with students who are considering a career in law or public safety!

Rogers State University’s Criminal Justice Society members invite the campus community and local residents to the Herrington Hall this week to enjoy coffee and conversation with law enforcement professionals at the Coffee with a Cop event.

Slated for 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 in the atrium of Herrington Hall at RSU’s Claremore campus, Coffee with a Cop offers attendees the chance to meet with professionals from a variety of local, state and federal law-enforcement and justice-related careers. https://www.rsu.edu/rsus-criminal-justice-societys-coffee-with-a-copy-event-returns-oct-14/

This week, we're highlighting mental-health resources available throughout Tulsa County, from ongoing counseling and community support to crisis intervention. Whether you or someone you know is looking for support, help is available.

This is not an exhaustive list of resources. We are grateful for the organizations working to support the well-being of our community. If you know of additional mental-health resources in Tulsa County, please share them in the comments.

Today, the Family Safety Center is hosting one of several trainings to address domestic violence during October’s Domestic Violence Awareness month.

Experts from across the spectrum are providing instruction to area law enforcement, prosecutors, and advocates to intercept this high lethality crime before it happens. Thanks Family Safety Center!

Tulsa County has some of the best law enforcement agencies in the country. We are glad to see that our public safety partners continue to train, work hard, and innovate. We are particularly proud of this effort to increase police training on Domestic Assault & Battery by Strangulation cases.

Together, we can protect victims, hold abusers accountable, and decrease domestic violence.

Law enforcement officers from across Oklahoma are in Glenpool this week for training on how to recognize strangulation signs in domestic violence cases.

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month continues, we want to highlight resources available in Tulsa so that those who might benefit from their services are aware of options for support.

This is by no means an exhaustive list - we are grateful for so many organizations in Tulsa working to support victims as we work to find truth and seek justice for them.

Join us for these important Town Hall events. Domestic violence is unacceptable, and we all need to work together in supporting victims and holding abusers accountable.

We have several Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities planned throughout October, including town halls in locations across our community.

These town halls are a collaboration between Case Family Safety Center, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma, Tulsa City Council, the Tulsa County District Attorney, DVIS and other community partners.

Each town hall will feature a panel discussion with local experts, an opportunity for community Q&A and connections to local service providers and resources.

These conversations are an important opportunity to learn, ask questions, share resources and connect with one another around a shared goal: creating a safer community for everyone.

We believe real change happens when we work together, and we’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for survivors and their families.

Today, the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), held their inaugural walk in Tulsa to bring awareness to the challenges facing families who have a loved one suffering from mental health problems.

Tulsa’s community partnerships are hard at work to repair our broken system. NAMI is a great organization which can help any family better understand this disease and how best to navigate the trials and tribulations which come with it. A special shout out to the Tulsa Police Department’s mental health unit, Dr. Crystal Hernandez, and Dr. Kathy LaFortune for being voices for change.
