💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

Domestic violence is complex, and responding effectively requires more than a single agency or a single intervention. It takes collaboration, coordination, and a commitment to understanding the dynamics of power, control, and the risks that can lead to lethal outcomes.

Today, Detective Nastansky was recognized for spearheading the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office response to high-risk intimate partner violence through the Domestic Violence High Risk Team (DVHRT) model.

The High Risk Team brings community partners together to identify and respond to high-lethality cases, coordinate services, and create pathways toward safety for survivors. By prioritizing a coordinated, multi-agency response, the team works to ensure survivors have access to advocacy, support, and meaningful off-ramps from violent relationships.

This work is about more than responding to individual incidents. It is about recognizing risk, disrupting patterns of power and control, and bringing the right partners together to help prevent violence before it becomes fatal.

💜 Thank you, Detective Nastansky, for your leadership and dedication to building a more coordinated, survivor-centered response to domestic violence in our community.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize Detective Carissa Watson for earning the designation of Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) through the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS).

This accomplishment followed months of intensive training and testing, beginning with 76 hours of specialized computer forensic training and continuing through a rigorous peer-review process involving multiple scenario-based forensic examinations. The final certification phase included both a practical hard-drive forensic examination and a comprehensive knowledge-based examination.

The CFCE program is accredited by the Forensic Specialties Accreditation Board and represents a significant level of professional competency in digital forensic examination.
Detective Watson’s dedication to developing this specialized expertise strengthens TCSO’s ability to investigate increasingly complex cases involving computers and digital evidence.

Please join us in congratulating Detective Watson on this outstanding accomplishment!
