-Open Seats Within the Fire District-

The Turners Falls Fire District will hold a special election on Monday, December 14, 2026, to fill several important positions, including seats on the Prudential Committee and the position of Water Commissioner. This is a unique opportunity for Fire District residents to get involved and help shape the future of the Fire District.

Interested Fire District residents who wish to run for any of these positions are encouraged to pick up nomination papers at the Turners Falls Water Department, located at 226 Millers Falls Road, Turners Falls, MA 01376.

The last day to pick up nomination papers is Friday, October 23, 2026. The deadline to submit completed nomination papers is Monday, October 26, 2026.

A cheap charger may end up costing more in the long run- many fires and battery related issues can stem from improper charging equipment being utilized.
Make certain the charger you are using is the correct model for the device and that it is a UL listed charging device.

🔋Charge larger battery-powered items with extra care! 🔌

E-bikes, scooters, and power tools deserve more caution because larger batteries can fail more violently and create bigger fire problems. When possible, charge them outside or in a safer area, and never block an exit.

Do you have any of the following occurring at your residence?:

-A laptop charging unattended? 💻
-An ebike or tool battery being recharged inside your home/garage? 🏠
-An aftermarket charger being used to charge a battery? 🔌
-A device that gets hot when charging? ♨️

⚠️ All of these can easily be avoided and reduce the chances of a fire caused by rechargeable batteries.

The 2026 Fire Prevention Week is upon us and the theme is "Charge Into Fire Safety"!
Our area has seen many rechargeable battery related fires recently so we "charge" everyone to conduct safe charging and use of such batteries. Stay tuned this week for safety tips related to lithium-ion and other rechargeable batteries!
