TPL Taylorville Brown Library

The Taylorville-Brown Branch is now permanently closed. Thank you for your ongoing support of the Tuscaloosa Public Library. Brown and his sister Marina Brown.
The Brown Branch, located within the Bobby Miller Activity Center, offers its patrons the same materials and services offered at the Main Library and Weaver Bolden Branch. Requested materials are transferred daily among the branches. The branch offers a variety of programs throughout the year for children, teens and adults. Every program presented or sponsored by the library is free of charge. The Brown branch is named after James M.

Updated hours at the Main and Brown branches begin next week.

Starting next week, the Brown branch will be closed on Wednesdays. We are still open tomorrow on November 28. The branch will be closing permanently on February 2, 2024.

The Tuscaloosa Public Library is proud to be a drop-off location for the annual Beat Auburn, Beat Hunger canned food drive! The donation bin is located in the lobby of the Main Branch and will be accepting donations from now until November 16th.

The Tuscaloosa Public Library Board of Trustees has voted to implement a series of cost-saving measures for the Tuscaloosa Public Library. The following changes will be effective December 1, 2023.
1. Elimination of the Overdrive/Libby electronic database.
2. Hiring freeze, with the removal of 9 unfilled positions from the 2024 budget.
3. 15% reduction in the purchase of books and materials, in addition to the 30% reduction made last year.
4. Continued reduction of the programming budget, including reduction of the 2024 Summer Reading Program from 8 weeks to 4 weeks.
5. Adjustment of operational hours at the Main Library.
6. Reduction of hours at the Brown Branch Library in preparation for permanently closing that branch on February 2, 2024. (Weaver Bolden Library hours remain unchanged.)
Representatives of the City of Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, and the City of Northport have agreed to meet with TPL leadership to address these issues.
