We are incredibly proud to celebrate Mrs. Black for being recognized by the Atlanta Braves Foundation through their Most Valued Teachers Program. Her DonorsChoose project, “Sensory Play Yard,” was fully funded, providing valuable sensory equipment for our Pre-K students and creating new opportunities for learning and growth.

Out of 106 funded projects from 98 schools, Ms. Black was selected as one of only 12 educators to be honored on the field at Truist Park before the Atlanta Braves vs. Toronto Blue Jays game.

Ms. Black’s dedication, perseverance, and commitment to her students continue to make a lasting impact at Southview Elementary. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! We are proud to have you as part of the Southview family. 🐘💙

How about giving a big congratulations to my buddy Marcus Patton, Jr?
Marcus is celebrating today after being promoted to the second grade!

The Tuscaloosa native was on a roll last Friday at Southview Elementary School awards day.

Marcus was named to the A/B Honor Roll.
He received the Outstanding Effort Award.
He won the Citizenship Award.
He won the Whoppers Award.
He was accepted into the Gifted Program.

Marcus is the only son of Marcus Patton, Sr. & Tiesha Tubbs.

Marcus, Jr. is kicking back on this Memorial Day- he looks forward to having some fun this summer and tackling 2nd grade with a flurry!

Look this kid up in 20 years.
