Let's talk about what we're really voting for this fall.
For almost 40 years, this community has had neighbors show up. At 2 AM. In the middle of a storm. On a Tuesday when they could've been home with their families. That's what Englewood Hulls Volunteer Fire Department has always been — neighbors protecting neighbors.
Fire Protection District status is how we make sure that never changes.
Here's what it means for our community:
✔️ Dedicated, reliable funding so our volunteers have the equipment they need
✔️ Faster response times — because our people know these roads and these families
✔️ Stronger ISO rating, which keeps homeowner's insurance costs lower for all of us
✔️ A sustainable future for a department that's been here since 1987 — and will be here long after
This is our community deciding together that we're worth protecting. That our families are worth protecting. That the homes and lives we've built here matter.
Protect What Matters Most.

When you call 911 in Englewood or Hulls, you're not getting a crew from somewhere else who has to find your road on a map.
You're getting us. People who know the backroads. People who know the families. People who've been doing this since 1987.
That local knowledge matters more than most people realize especially when every minute counts.
Fire Protection District status helps us protect that. It means dedicated funding for the equipment, training, and staffing that keeps our response times fast and our volunteers safe.
This fall, our community votes on whether to make that official. We want every resident to understand what's at stake before that day comes.
Come to a board meeting and ask us anything — first Monday of every month, 6:30 PM at the fire station. Open to everyone.
Protect What Matters Most.

Today we remember the men and women who gave everything in service to this country.
As a volunteer fire department, we understand something about showing up when it matters - but the sacrifice of our military is in a category all its own.
Protect What Matters Most.

Our department runs on volunteers. Always has.
Every call we answer, every training we run, every piece of equipment we maintain - it's because people in this community decided to show up.
Right now, we're actively looking for new volunteers. You don't have to fight fires to make a difference. There are roles for everyone - from the station floor to behind the scenes.
If you've ever thought about it, now is the time. We train on Thursday nights at the station. Come see what it's about.
Or give us a call:
📞 205-750-0309
📞 205-723-6360
(No answer? Leave your number and we'll call you back.)
This community has always taken care of its own. Be part of that.

This week is National EMS Week, and the theme says it all: Improving Outcomes, Together.
At Englewood Hulls VFD, "together" isn't just a word - it's the whole model. Our volunteers show up nights, weekends, and holidays because when a neighbor calls, the answer has always been us. People who know these roads, these families, and this place.
To every first responder and volunteer who answered a call this week — thank you. We see you.
Want to be part of what makes this work? Come to a Thursday night training or call us at 205-750-0309 or 205-723-6360. No answer? Leave your number and we'll call you back.
Protect What Matters Most.

You've probably seen one of our posts. Maybe you've heard neighbors talking about it. So let's break it down plain and simple.
A Fire Protection District means our department gets dedicated, reliable funding to do what we've always done... just better.
✔️ Faster response times
✔️ Better equipment and training for our volunteers
✔️ A stronger ISO rating (which directly affects your homeowner's insurance)
✔️ A sustainable future for fire protection in Englewood and Hulls
This isn't something being handed down from the state. This is us, your neighbors, building something that protects what we've all worked for.
The vote happens this fall. Between now and then, we want every person in this community to understand what's at stake and feel confident about it.
Questions? Come to our next board meeting on the first Monday of every month, 6:30 PM at the station. Open to everyone.
Protect What Matters Most.

At a recent training, our volunteers practiced a tremendously important skill in firefighting - donning and doffing PPE.
Donning and doffing means putting on and taking off your personal protective equipment correctly. It sounds simple. It's not.
If your gear isn't on right, you're not protected, and every second counts on a call.
Our volunteers drill this over and over because it matters. Proper PPE technique protects our people so our people can protect yours.
This is what Thursday nights at the station look like. Real training. Real preparation. Real neighbors getting ready to show up for this community.
Thinking about joining us? We'd love to have you.
