Located at the core of the University of Alabama Campus in historic Smith Hall, the Alabama Museum of Natural History is a supporting service essential to learning and quality of life at the University of Alabama. The Museum provides an appropriate setting for teaching, research, creative activity and service for students and visitors. Experience the natural diversity of Alabama through exhibits from the Age of Dinosaurs, the Coal Age, and the Ice Age. View the displays of geology, zoology, mineralogy, paleontology, ethnology, history, and photography. See the Hodges meteorite, the only meteorite known to have struck a human, and the State Fossil of Alabama: Basilosaurus cetoides.

The Alabama Museum of Natural History will be closed on Saturday, October 10 and will reopen on Monday, October 12.

Did you get a chance to check out our new exhibits during "Alabama Fossil Fest"? Almost all of the artwork spaced across the three exhibits was created by The University of Alabama Biology major, Gabriella Zapolsky, class of 2029. Gabby also created the spectacular Shark Tooth Fairy and creatures that decorated that machine. She really is SOME-FIN special!

See our new exhibit at the Alabama Museum of Natural History today from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. during this year's free "Alabama Fossil Fest", themed around fossil sharks and other marine life. We'll also have a presentation about identifying fossil shark teeth and door prize giveaways!
