🌟 Meet Our Staff Monday! 🌟
This week, we're spotlighting Andrea Cottrell, Center Manager of our Greensboro Club!
Andrea has been a valued member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama team since August 2012. A proud Greensboro native and graduate of Akron High School, she is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment where young people can learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
One of Andrea's favorite parts of her role is watching Club members build confidence, develop new skills, form lasting friendships, and achieve their goals. Making a positive impact on the lives of youth is what inspires her every day.
When she's not at the Club, Andrea enjoys DIY crafts, decorating, writing inspirational quotes, and traveling. She describes herself as a natural leader who loves helping others, sharing creative ideas, and encouraging people to be their best.
Fun facts about Andrea:

Partners create legendary impact. đź’™
We’re excited to officially launch the 2026-2027 BGCWA Corporate Legacy Partner Guide! For the first time ever, Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama has compiled our event sponsorships, year-round partnership options, program support opportunities, volunteer projects, and in-kind needs into one guide to help businesses plan their support for the year ahead.
Whether your organization wants to sponsor one event, support Club programs, volunteer as a team, or become a year-round Corporate Legacy Partner, there is a meaningful way to get involved. Your partnership helps provide safe spaces, caring mentors, and life-changing opportunities for kids and teens across West Alabama.
Review the guide and sign up now, or contact us to schedule a tour of our newly renovated Jaycee Park Club and discuss the partnership options that best fit your organization and interests. West Alabama needs Club Kids. Club Kids need you.

🍋 We need your help so our Club kids can experience something sweet this summer! Lemonade Day is almost here, and our 3rd-5th graders are getting ready to build more than lemonade stands. They’ll spend five weeks learning what it takes to run a business, from branding and budgeting to communication, planning and customer service. Then on July 17th from 10 AM- 12 PM, they’ll put it all into action with their own lemonade stands at our newly renovated Jaycee Park Club.
But we need YOUR help to bring it to life!
Sponsorships help provide the supplies kids need for their stands while also supporting the Club programs that make experiences like this possible all summer long. When you sponsor Lemonade Day, you’re not just helping kids sell lemonade. You’re helping them build confidence, learn real-world skills and see themselves as future leaders. Help us inspire tomorrow's entrepreneurs, today!
To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, visit bgcwestal.org/lemonade. Deadline for partnership registration is June 19th!

Yesterday was the first day of summer at Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama, and we couldn’t have asked for a better start! Our Jaycee Park, Hasson and Greensboro Clubs kicked off at full capacity, and our Club kids are already jumping into a summer filled with STEM, reading, recreation, field trips, friendships and fun.
At BGCWA, there’s no such thing as a summer slump. Learning and fun are always on the schedule! We’re so excited for all that’s ahead this summer. 💙

A huge thank you to Alabama Credit Union for volunteering today during United Way of West Alabama Day of Action at our Jaycee Park Club. Our equipment and supply closets are now all organized and ready for club kinds to start summer programs on Monday. We truly couldn’t do what we do without the support of the community and are so grateful!! 💙

Tuscaloosa... get ready to SQUEEZE the day! 🍋
Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama is bringing back Lemonade Day, and this year is shaping up to be extra sweet.
Through a five-week entrepreneurship curriculum, our 3rd–5th grade Club members will learn how to turn lemons into lessons — exploring budgeting, marketing, customer service, goal-setting and small business basics with support from local bankers and business leaders. Then, they’ll put it all into action at their very own Lemonade Day event!
Save the date and come sip & support:

Newly renovated Jaycee Park Clubhouse
Last year, Club kids raised thousands of dollars to support their Boys & Girls Clubs, proving that when our community pours into kids, they can do big things. This year, we’re ready to make an even bigger splash.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and community partners who want to help make this experience possible.
For banks and financial institutions, sponsorship and volunteer involvement may also align with CRA-related community development and financial education goals.
So when life gives you lemons… help Club kids build confidence, learn leadership and launch something sweet.
