Happy Friday!
Today we are introducing our Professor of Military Science, Lieutenant Colonel Michelle McDevitt!
-
LTC McDevitt is from Mobile, Alabama and has been serving in the Army for 19 years! Over this time, she has worked as a Logistics Officer with Parachute Rigging for the 82nd Airborne Division, commanded in the 1/507th Parachute Infantry Regiment and 3-11th Officer Candidate School, worked as a Strategic Planner for Task Force 2010, a Doctrine Developer at CASCOM and Deputy Director of the Aerial Delivery Field Services Department, SPO in 5-306th and XO and Deputy G4 in 3rd Infantry Division, and has been the Commander of Joint Personal Effects Depot and Battalion Commander of Army Field Support Battalion Poland along with deployments to Afghanistan and Qatar.

LTC McDevitt has been to Pathfinder School and has attended the Parachute Rigger course.

Throughout her years in service, LTC McDevitt has received the Master Parachutist Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), and the Humanitarian Service Medal.

LTC McDevitt joined the Army because her grandfather and father served in the Coast Guard, and she knew as a kid that she desired to serve and be part of something greater than herself (her and her brother went Army)!

Fun Fact: She is a former rugby player and dog enthusiast. Her two fur babies are Ace and Chomper!

Happy Warrior Wednesday!
Today we are introducing our Battalion S-8, Price Foley!

Cadet Foley is a Political Science and Legal History double major from Brent, Alabama.
-
During his time in ROTC, he has participated in the Norwegian Ruck March, acted as a Platoon Sergeant, and is a member of the Ranger Challenge Team!
-
Cadet Foley intends to branch Infantry and joined ROTC to give back to his family legacy of service and to fulfill a lifelong dream.

Fun Fact: He exchanged fisticuffs with a goose in 5th grade!

Last Thursday, the Crimson Tide Battalion in collaboration with Air Force ROTC and Veteran’s & Military Affairs hosted its annual JCC Sanders event. This event honors the military tradition of the Corps of Cadets on campus at UA as well as the memory of Sanders, an alumni of the university who attained the rank of Brigadier General during the Civil War. We would like to extend our congratulations to the Air Force ROTC awardees and to our Battalion’s scholarship recipients: Cadets Ladd, Huston, Palmer, Sheridan, and Tindoll.

Today we are introducing our Battalion S-4, Cadet Reagan Ladd!

Cadet Ladd is from Fairhope, AL and is majoring in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology.

She enlisted in the National Guard in 2022 as a 25U with the 168th ECC and hopes to branch Signal when she graduates!
-
Cadet Ladd joined ROTC to develop herself as a leader and become an officer in the Army.

Fun Fact: She has a pet we**ie dog named Sundae!

Happy Friday! Today we are introducing our MSIII instructor Captain Brandon Roberts!

CPT Roberts is from Fairfax Station, Virginia and is a West Point Graduate! Throughout his career, CPT Roberts has worked as an Armor officer at Fort Bragg for the 82nd Airborne Division, at the 25th Infantry Division, and 21st Infantry Regiment along with deployments to Poland, the Philippines, and Hawaii.

CPT Roberts has attended Army Reconnaissance Course, Maneuver Leader’s Maintenance Course, Basic Airbourne Course, Ranger School, Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, Cavalry Course, and has received the Expert Soldier Badge!

Caset Nelson is originally from New Orleans, LA and majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduating he hopes to branch Engineering!

Cadet Nelson joined ROTC to challenge himself during college and to give himself a future career to pursue.

Happy Friday! Today we are introducing Mr. Rivera, our MSI Instructor!

Mr. Jose A. Rivera enlisted in the United States Army in 2003. Upon completion of Initial Entry Training, he arrived at Sand Hill and was assigned to Foxtrot Company, 2nd Battalion, 54th Infantry Regiment, where he successfully completed Infantry Training.
-
Mr. Rivera’s military education includes the Senior Leaders Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Master Educator Course, Javelin Course, and the Common Faculty Development–Instructor Course.

Throughout his 21-year military career, Mr. Rivera served in numerous leadership positions, progressing from Team Leader to First Sergeant in both garrison and combat environments. He deployed in support of operations to Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea, Malaysia, and Japan.
-
His duty assignments included Fort Campbell, Kentucky (2003–2007); Fort Lewis, Washington (2007–2015); Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (2015–2017); Camp Jackson, Korea (2017–2019); and his final assignment with the University of Alabama Army ROTC program, where he served as a Military Science Instructor.

Mr. Rivera’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Basic Army Instructor Badge (BAIB)!
