Today, Tuttle Fire Department joins the nation in remembering those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Twenty-five years later, we remember the people who left for work that morning, the families who waited for a phone call, and the loved ones who never made it home.
We honor the 343 FDNY firefighters and all first responders who gave their lives helping others. As firefighters, remembering that day holds a special meaning. They were fellow firefighters answering a call, working alongside their crews, and doing everything they could to get people home to their families. Their sacrifice will always have a place in the fire service and in our hearts.
We also remember how this country came together. People put their differences aside, took care of their neighbors, and stood beside strangers. In a time of tremendous loss, people showed up for one another. That is something worth carrying forward every day.
Today, we ask our community to take a moment to remember those who were lost and the families who still miss them. Honor their memory by looking out for one another and remembering how much we share as a community and as a country.
We will never forget.
