This non-partisan and fact-based program will include viewing a video created by Texas Impact, a faith-based nonprofit justice organization, followed by respectful dialogue as we strive to learn how the abortion ban in Texas has impacted women and their physicians.

Submit your application between now and March 1 if you are graduating from a Smith County public high school, a TJC student moving on to the next level, or a local college student with at least 30 hours credit. Great Decisions 2026 kicked off with a timely topic, Ukraine and the Future of European Security. Join us this week, and every Thursday through March 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Tyler Public Library, for thoughtful and nonpartisan discussions on current foreign relations subjects. February 5 will feature Jeffrey Crean of Tyler Junior College speaking on US -China Relations. Great Decisions is sponsored locally by AAUW, League of Women Voters, and Tyler Public Library and is a project of The Foreign Policy Association.

Meet Mika Smith-Low, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and co-owner of Dallas Therapeutic Services. Before Mika was a successful businesswoman and mental health professional she was an outstanding student at Robert E. Lee High School (now Legacy HS) who impressed the AAUW Scholarship Committee. Jaela Wideman knew she was destined to be a nurse even while still a student at John Tyler High School (now Tyler High).
