The Orr Elementary second graders had a royal visit! Our students had the wonderful opportunity to meet and visit with the Tyler Rose Queen at Orr Elementary. The Queen also invited our second graders to attend the Queen’s Tea this weekend!

For decades, local second-grade students have participated in this special Tyler tradition as junior hostesses, welcoming guests and helping with fans, programs, and water during the event.

Want to attend the Queen’s Tea!

Date: Saturday, October 17, 2026
Time: 1:00–3:00 PM
Location: Tyler Municipal Rose Garden, 420 Rose Park Drive, Tyler, TX
Admission: Free and open to the community.

We are honored to be part of a tradition that celebrates our community, leadership, and the beauty of the Texas Rose Festival. Thank you to the Tyler Rose Queen for taking the time to visit our Lion Cubs and make this such a memorable experience!

🧪🔬 Science in Action! 🔬🧪

Last week, Ms. Thompson’s 5th-grade scientists headed into the science lab to explore mixtures and TEKS 5.6A! 🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬

Students got hands-on as they investigated how different substances can be combined to create mixtures. We love seeing our Lion Cubs learning by doing, exploring, and discovering! 🦁💡

Way to go, 5th grade scientists! Keep mixing, experimenting, and learning! 🧪✨

🌺🌈 START WITH HELLO WEEK at Orr Elementary! 🌈🌺

We are kicking off Start with Hello Week by celebrating the power of connection, kindness, and building a strong school community! 🦁💛

Today, our students and staff brought the sunshine with Hawaiian shirts and bright colors as we started the week with smiles, laughter, and plenty of HELLOS! 🌴🌺☀️

We learned that there are so many ways to say “Hello!” — with a smile, a wave, a high-five, a kind word, or simply taking a moment to make someone feel seen and welcomed. 👋😊

At Orr Elementary, we know that small connections can make a BIG difference. When we say hello, include others, and take time to connect, we help create a school where everyone feels like they belong. 🫶🦁

Let’s keep spreading kindness, making connections, and showing our Orr Lion Cub pride all week long! 🦁💛

Start with Hello. Start with kindness. Start with Orr! 🌺🌈
