🐝 Weekly Bee Fact: Five Eyes on the Hive!

Honey bees have five eyes—two large compound eyes that help them see colors, patterns and movement, plus three tiny simple eyes that detect changes in light.

Scientists and medical professionals begin discoveries by looking closely, noticing details and asking questions. Through classroom investigations and Scrub Club experiences, our Bonner Bees are building those same habits of curiosity and observation! 👀🔬

A little snail mail is making some big connections at Bonner!

Our fifth graders are connecting with medical professionals through Scrubs & Scribbles! Each student is paired with a pen pal from UT Health Tyler or CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and more. Teachers used the professionals’ biographies to match students with someone who shares their interests.

Now they’re getting to know each other the old-fashioned way: writing letters! They’re talking about school, asking questions about science and medical careers, and connecting classroom learning to the world around them.

Thank you to our medical pen pals for sharing your time and stories with our fifth graders!

October is National Principal's Month and we have one of the very best at Bonner Elementary! Mr. Ladd brings joy to our hive. He strives to get to know every student and family. He leads teachers and staff with knowledge and compassion. Thank you for all you do Mr. Ladd, we appreciate you! 🐝💙

Magnets that help doctors see inside your body? That’s the science behind an MRI! 🧲 These machines use powerful magnets and radio waves to create images inside the body.

Last Friday, our Bonner Bees explored X-rays, magnets, and radiology equipment while discovering the healthcare careers behind them. Thank you to our CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances radiology partners for making this month’s Scrub Club possible! 🐝

Work in healthcare and want to share what you do with our students? We’d love to connect: https://forms.gle/DVRmz6ysqsByAdxRA

🐝 Sunday Bee Fact: Bees Are Learners, Too!

Honey bees can learn and remember colors and visual landmarks. These memories help them recognize rewarding flowers and navigate back to their hive.

Learning grows through experience and practice—for bees and Bonner students! Whether our Bees are reading, exploring science, or learning from medical professionals through Scrub Club, each new experience expands their perspectives and builds knowledge for the future. 📚🔬🐝
