How do you say goodbye to the one and only MSgt Thomas Dees?

Heavy Section Chief, C2 Course and Mission Director, CRISIS Mentor, and occasionally a dirt boy! A man who has worn many hats and made a lasting impact in every role.

From the thousands of hours dedicated to this unit to the countless Airmen he’s mentored along the way, MSgt Dees has set the bar high through his leadership, and commitment to getting the job done.

Thank you for everything, MSgt Dees! Your presence will be missed, but the impact you’ve made will last for years to come. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter! 🐎❤️

Some RED HORSE History ✨ 🐴 on this fine Thursday afternoon!

“For nearly six decades, RED HORSE Airmen have carried a symbol born not in a design studio, or with the help of A.l. but in a combat zone - drawn by a 20-year- old illustrator with crayons, stencils, and a vision that captured the spirit of a brand-new unit finding its identity. What Bill Ackley created in Vietnam was more than artwork; it was a declaration of who we were, who we are and who we intend to be.

Fun Fact: Bill Ackley also helped establish the first
Material Testing Laboratory in Vietnam.”

Happy birthday RED HORSE! 🐴

Since October 1965, the Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers (RED HORSE) heavy construction forces operate as frontline enablers—rapidly building, hardening, and opening contested airfield platforms in austere theater locations to project joint-force airpower.

Now approaching six decades of “Can Do, Will Do,” these Engineers continue to strengthen the Air Force’s ability to generate and sustain combat power around the world. Every runway they pave and every structure they raise reinforces readiness and strengthens the joint force.

Here’s to 61 years of innovation, grit, and engineering excellence.

♥️

Today, we pause to hold the fallen close to our hearts, to honor their families, and pledge to always stand ready to defend our sacred freedom.

We MUST also remember why 9/11 happened. There were, and still are today, people who live with radical ideologies. They want our way of life eradicated from this earth, and we must NEVER allow that to happen.

Our Airmen, especially those deployed, are the frontline guarding our homes and families from future tragedy. The burden you carry is heavy, but your mission is noble, and your courage is the ultimate protector of our freedom.

25 years later and the significance remains. We will never forget.
