We are making progress to the first Comprehensive Plan for the Borough of Tyrone, Pennsylvania since 2007. The Comprehensive Plan is key to planning for the future of our community.

There are multiple parts to creating the plan. I have said multiple times, this is not my plan, it is not the Borough Council's plan... This Is Your Plan. We can't plan for the future of our community without the Community being involved.

The first couple parts of the plan we have been working simultaneously. Surveying the community about what they think is a good parts of our community, what needs improvement and what you would like to see in the future. The response to the survey has been impressive and it will still be open until Oct. 31. A useable survey of the community is a five percent response rate. A very successful survey is a 10 percent response rate. Our survey has been open close to three weeks and we are already at 560 responses which is more than 10 percent.

We are also doing three in-person Community Workshops. The first one took place at the Church of the Good Shepherd and we thank them for hosting the event. Around 30 people came to work through six different scenarios for the future of Tyrone.

Our second in-person Community Workshop takes place at the Tyrone Elks Lodge Thursday night at 6 p.m. The scenario we are looking at is attached.

I am very thankful that so many people are participating in building our plan for the future of Tyrone. We hope to see you Thursday night at the Elks.

Comprehensive Plan Update:

We still need as many residents as possible to fill out their surveys. The survey period closes on Oct. 31.

Step 2 in the Comprehensive Plan is Community Workshops. The first one takes place Thursday night from 6-8 at the Church of the Good Shepherd. The Topic: What Should Tyrone Become?

Your input is critical to the future of our community. I look forward to seeing you Thursday night at the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Hard to believe it is this time of the year. Where exactly did summer go? But here we are, so let’s get signed up for the Tyrone Park & Rec Trunk of Treat event. Also, most people overlook this but, if you are attending the event, please bring a donation for the Tyrone Food Bank. Thank you.
