Mendocino County Residents Advised of Potential PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff
The County of Mendocino Office of Emergency Services (OES) is advising residents of a potential Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) that could impact approximately 778 customers in Mendocino County beginning Wednesday evening, October 14.
The potential shutoff area includes portions of Hopland from the Sonoma County line, extending north/northwest toward the Talmage/Cow Mountain area along 101 corridor, east to the Mendocino/Lake County Line. Guidiville Rancheria has also been included in the potential shutoff scope.
PG&E is monitoring forecasted high winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation conditions that could increase wildfire risk. The potential PSPS event could begin Wednesday evening, October 14, and continue through Saturday, October 17, depending on weather conditions.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for possible power outages by charging essential electronic devices, having flashlights and emergency supplies available, and making arrangements for any medical equipment that requires electricity. Residents should also check on family members, neighbors, and others who may need additional assistance.
PG&E continues to monitor weather conditions and may adjust the areas affected or the timing of potential shutoffs as forecasts change. Customers are encouraged to ensure their contact information is current with PG&E to receive notifications regarding potential power shutoffs.
