Aerotropolis Hiring Fair: 50+ companies hiring on-site 05/11/2026

FF/AEMT Victor Bowman and Sgt. Michael Awua proudly represented Union City Fire & Emergency Services at the Aerotropolis Hiring Fair event. Throughout the day, they had the opportunity to meet and speak with individuals interested in pursuing a career in the fire service and public safety.

Events like these are a great opportunity for us to get out into the community, connect with future firefighters, and share information about the rewarding opportunities available within the fire service. From serving the community to building lifelong skills and experiences, a career in the fire service offers a unique chance to make a real difference every day.

We appreciate everyone who stopped by to speak with our personnel and learn more about what we do at UCFES. We always enjoy being out and about in the community and look forward to continuing to engage with those interested in joining the fire service profession.

A mandatory burn ban is now in effect statewide. Residents are urged to avoid any outdoor activity that could create sparks or flames.

❌ No yard debris burning
❌ No agricultural burning
❌ No prescribed burning

Even one spark can quickly become dangerous under current conditions.

We encourage everyone to remain alert, follow official guidance, and keep safety top of mind as response teams continue working across affected areas.

🌫️ Noticing Hazy Skies or a Smoky Smell? Here’s What’s Going On.

It is not from any fire within Union City. The conditions are being caused by wildfires in South Georgia, with smoke being carried into our area by shifting winds.

Here’s what residents should know:
✅ There is no active local threat at this time.
✅ The haze is traveling smoke from outside our area.
✅ Please obtain a permit before you burn outdoors and follow all guidelines.
✅ Those with asthma or other breathing concerns should consider limiting outdoor activity.

Our crews are continuing to monitor the situation closely and will share updates if conditions change.

If you see visible flames or believe there is a fire in your immediate area, please call 911 right away.
