Our next Hispanic Heritage Month/Estrella Award nominee in our Public/Civil Services category is Daniel Bravo! 🌟

He is the Developmental Disabilities Program Coordinator for the Yakima Health District. As the first born son of immigrant parents, life has always been filed with firsts and unforeseen challenges. One of his greatest challenge's and joys in life has been the opportunity to raise a child with a disability. His oldest daughter has faced many challengers due to a genetic disorder which has in turn made him very passionate about advocacy and support around the world of disability.

His upbringing and cultural experiences have fueled his passion to bring awareness and support to the community. They face many challenges in society and loosing out on access to resources because of fears or misinformation should never be a roadblock. He is truly proud of the work his team has been able to do in Yakima and looks forward to continuing to support his community and thus improve the lives of those with a disability in any way possible weather big or small.

The Yakima Health District is reporting a confirmed case of avian influenza in a Yakima County resident who was exposed to infected dairy cattle at a Yakima county dairy.

The risk to the general public remains low. Transmission of avian influenza between humans is extremely rare and has never been documented in the United States.

Public health is contacting anyone who has been in close contact with the patient to monitor for symptoms. If you work on a dairy farm and develop symptoms after potential exposure to infected cattle, contact your healthcare provider or the Yakima Health District at (509) 249-6541.

El Distrito de Salud de Yakima informa sobre un caso confirmado de influenza aviar en un residente del condado de Yakima que estuvo expuesto a ganado lechero infectado en una granja lechera del condado de Yakima.


El riesgo para el público en general sigue siendo bajo. La transmisión de la gripe aviar entre seres humanos es extremadamente rara y nunca se ha documentado en los Estados Unidos.

Salud pública esta contactando a toda persona que haya estado en contacto estrecho con la persona para realizar un seguimiento de posibles síntomas. Si usted trabaja en una granja lechera y presenta síntomas tras una posible exposición a ganado infectado, comuníquese con su proveedor de atención médica o con el Distrito de Salud de Yakima al (509) 249-6541.
