Main Street SC is part of the National Main Street program that began in 1977 when the National Trust for Historic Preservation initiated a 3-year demonstration project.
Goals for that pilot study included:
✅ identifying the factors effecting a downtown’s health.
✅ understanding why so many downtowns were dying.
✅ developing a comprehensive revitalization strategy to save historic commercial buildings.
What was learned -->
✅ ✅ ✅ revival of our downtowns needed:
👉 Strong public-private partnerships
👉 Dedicated organizations
👉 A full-time program manager
👉 Local commitment to good design
👉 Quality promotional programming
👉 A coordinated, incremental process
This is how we get…. 🥁 🥁 🥁

FEEDBACK FRIDAY!

There are lots of colors on our Main Street! If you could pick a color scheme for our downtown, what colors would you choose?

Main Street is more than a program -- it’s a nationwide movement.
Main Street began in 1️⃣9️⃣7️⃣7️⃣ as a visionary initiative. The National Trust for Historic Preservation launched a three-year pilot in Galesburg, IL, Hot Springs, SD, and Madison, IN, to explore WHY downtowns were struggling -- and HOW to turn them around.
What they discovered shaped a national movement. Today, over 2,000 communities, thousands of volunteers and local leaders are working together to strengthen historic commercial districts through:
✅ Strong public-private partnerships
✅ Dedicated organizations & leadership
✅ Commitment to design, promotion & incremental progress
Together, we’re proving that when communities invest in their local historic commercial districts, they create connections and lasting impact. ❤️

Tomorrow looks like a great night for some MAD Music at the Depot!

☔️ We’ve learned not to argue with the weather around here. 😂 MAD Music LLC is back October 8, and if it rains, we’ll take the music inside to The Junction! 🎶

And thanks to MAD Music for tossing this eye-catcher our way!
