Greentown Volunteer Fire Department Our Mission is to serve the citizens and visitors of Lake Township by providing professional and compassionate fire, rescue, and emergency medical services

The Greentown Fire Department provides fire, medical, and public emergency services to Lake Township, Ohio. Our primary response district rests in the south west quarter of the township. The fire department is staffed 24 hours a day and responds to over 700 alarms per year. Our fleet includes a 105' aerial ladder truck, a 2500 gallon tanker/pumper, a 750 gallon pumper, two paramedic ambulances, and two utility vehicles.

Revenue will fund operational expenses such as payroll, safety training, and equipment maintenance.

If Issue 24 fails, each department will lose $1 million, which will adversely affect fire and emergency services in your area.

This is listed as an “additional levy,” but this language is misleading because it will actually REPLACE the current levy.

🚌 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY REMINDER! 🚸

Every school day, thousands of children rely on school buses to get to and from school safely. The Greentown Fire Department wants to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert, and help keep our kids safe!

🚦 Drivers, remember:

* 🟡 Yellow flashing lights: The bus is preparing to stop. Slow down and prepare to stop.
* 🔴 Red flashing lights: The bus is stopped for children to board or exit. Stop and remain stopped until the bus resumes moving or the driver signals you to proceed.
* 🛑 Stop arms: Never attempt to pass a stopped school bus with its stop arm extended.
* 👀 Stay alert: Children can be unpredictable, especially near bus stops.

🚸 Parents, remind your children:

* Stand at least 10 feet back from the road while waiting.
* Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the driver signals before approaching.
* Always cross in front of the bus, never behind it, and make sure the driver can see you.
* Never run after a bus or return for dropped items without the driver’s permission.

⚠️ Ohio drivers: School bus stopping requirements depend on the number of lanes. On roads with fewer than four lanes, traffic in both directions must stop. On roads with four or more lanes, only traffic traveling in the same direction as the bus must stop.

❤️ A few extra seconds of patience could save a child’s life.

🍂 Feeling that fall chill? Before turning on your furnace for the first time this season, take a few minutes for safety!

✅ Schedule a yearly inspection by a qualified professional.
✅ Check your furnace filter and replace it as needed.
✅ Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet from your furnace.

🚨 Smell gas or hear a carbon monoxide alarm? Get everyone outside immediately and call 911 from outside. Stay outside until emergency responders say it’s safe to return.

🔋🔥 Take charge of battery safety!

Lithium-ion batteries power many devices we use every day, but knowing the warning signs can help protect your family.

✅ Use the charger supplied by the manufacturer.
✅ Keep batteries away from heat, flammable materials, and exits.
✅ Stop using devices with swollen or damaged batteries, unusual odors, or excessive heat.
✅ Recycle batteries—never put them in the trash.

If a battery starts smoking or making hissing or popping sounds, get out immediately and call 911.
