📚 Ellysa Stern Cahoy, the Pennsylvania Center for the Book’s Director, and Casey Sennett, the Center’s Outreach and Social Media Coordinator, attended the Pennsylvania Library Association’s 2026 Annual Conference last week in Harrisburg!

They presented to approximately 40 Pennsylvania librarians and library workers at their session, "Connecting the Commonwealth Through Books: Statewide Resources & Youth Awards from the PA Center for the Book.” During their session, Casey and Ellysa shared information about the Pennsylvania Center for the Book and resources available to Pennsylvania libraries and their patrons.

At PaLA, Ellysa and Casey enjoyed connecting not only with library personnel, but also Pennsylvania based writers and authors. They met Jolene McIlwain, author of Sidle Creek, the 2025 PA Great Read for Adult Readers, for the first time and saw Cordelia Jensen, author of Lilac and the Switchback, the 2026 PA Great Read for Young Readers!

While in Harrisburg, Casey and Ellysa also registered for two new library cards! They registered for their Lackawanna County Library System library cards while visiting the Lackawanna County Library System Bookmobile and registered for their Pennsylvania state library cards while touring the State Library of Pennsylvania!

Thank you to everyone who attended the PA Center for the Book’s session and connected with Ellysa and Casey during PaLA!
