Fond du Lac Fire Rescue wishes you a happy and safe 4th of July, as we celebrate our Nation's 250th birthday! Enjoy the day, have fun, be with family and friends, but most of all...Please be safe!

Fond du Lac Fire Rescue and Fond du Lac Police Department wishes you a safe and memorable 4th of July. Celebrate responsibly, and we’ll see you at Lakeside Park!
Fond du Lac Fire Rescue and Fond du Lac Police Department reminds everyone to stay safe with legal fireworks this 4th of July. Each year, more than 9,000 people are treated for fireworks injuries, and fireworks cause over 19,000 fires nationwide. Every year we respond to multiple fireworks related incidents including a dumpster fire due to improper fireworks disposal last weekend.
• Use fireworks only outdoors and keep water nearby
• Light one at a time
• Never let young children handle them
• Soak used fireworks before throwing them away
For the safest (and biggest!) celebration, join us at Lakeside Park for the city’s largest fireworks show ever in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Have a safe and memorable 4th of July, Fond du Lac!

Fond du Lac Fire Rescue and Fond du Lac Police Department want to ensure that everyone has a safe 4th of July holiday season this year. Every year, fireworks cause preventable injuries across Wisconsin. Even after the display is over, spent fireworks and "duds" can remain hot or contain live pyrotechnic material. Improper disposal can lead to trash fires, garage fires, burns, and injuries to sanitation workers. Taking a few extra minutes to properly dispose of fireworks can help prevent these incidents.

Wisconsin Fireworks Statistics from 2025

120 people were treated in Wisconsin emergency departments for fireworks-related injuries.
13 people were hospitalized because of fireworks-related injuries.
39% of those injured were children ages 17 and younger.
75% of those injured were male.

Fire Risk

Although Wisconsin does not publish an annual total for fireworks-caused fires, fireworks remain a significant ignition source. National fire data shows that fireworks start more than 32,000 fires each year, including nearly 3,800 structure fires. Many of these fires begin after fireworks are discarded before they are completely extinguished.
