The words we use matter. Instead of “committed su***de,” consider “died by su***de.” Compassionate language can help reduce stigma and create space for honest conversations.

This Su***de Prevention Month, let’s choose words that create connection, hope and support.

And that’s a wrap on Day 2! 💙

We closed out the day with Patti Heffernan and Beyond Trauma-Informed: Reclaiming Healing as a Collective, Cultural and Community Practice.

Her message invited us to look beyond individual healing and recognize the power of connection, culture and community in creating spaces where healing can happen.

Two days of learning, meaningful conversations and powerful stories — and we’re not done yet.

Day 3, here we come. 💙

Day 2 started with a powerful reminder: Keep P.U.S.H.{ing}. 💙

Dr. John Gaines shared his journey from hopelessness to hope — and the experiences that shaped his belief in the power of perseverance.

Known as “PUSH” — Persevere Until Something Happens, Dr. Gaines challenged us to embrace resilience, overcome obstacles with love and keep striving to become our best selves.

His message reminds us that change can begin with something as simple as:
Great thoughts.
Great actions.
Great habits.
Great purpose.

Thank you, Dr. Gaines, for helping us start Day 2 of with hope, purpose and a reason to keep moving forward. 💙

A powerful conversation is wrapping up at Renew 2026. 💙

Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas brought us “Tsunami of Su***de: Understanding and Supporting People Through Grief and Trauma” — an important conversation about the ripple effects of su***de, the weight of grief and trauma and how we can better support those who are hurting.

Thank you, Dr. Spencer-Thomas, for creating space for learning, reflection and connection. 💙

There’s still so much more to come at .

Thad Shunkwiler was back for year two, helping us break the silence around rural and agricultural mental health — and reminding us that the people who feed our communities deserve support, connection and access to care, too. 💙
