Daytona Beach Fire Rescue proudly serving the citizens and visitors of Daytona Beach The Daytona Beach Firefighters became IAFF Local 770.

Daytona Beach Fire Rescue has a proud history well known in the central Florida area and beyond. The International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) was formed in 1918, at a time when many Firefighters were required to live in fire houses and be on duty 24 hours a day, with only the occasional day off. Our brother Firefighters organized and became part of the IAFF on 10 May 1943. Local 770 lasted many years and achieved many improvements for Daytona Beach Firefighters that still benefit us today. Our current Local 1162 designation was assigned to us in 1954 after reforming. Local 1162 existed until 1983 when it decertified. Then in 1989, Daytona Beach Firefighters again organized and were given the designation Local 3229. Our brother firefighters, in recognition of the work that had been done years earlier, had their old designation of Local 1162 reinstated. That designation still remains with us today.

Florida’s fire departments rely on local funding to put firefighters and paramedics on the street, staff stations, maintain apparatus and equipment, and provide emergency response around the clock.

Amendment 3 would change the property tax system that helps fund fire and EMS across Florida without a clear plan for future funding.

Before Election Day, learn how your local fire department is funded, what services it provides, and what Amendment 3 could mean for your community.

Serving our community goes beyond the firehouse. ❤️🚒

This past week, the members of Daytona Beach Professional Firefighters Local 1162 came together to support The No Longer Fatherless Foundation. It was an honor to give back to an organization that’s making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.

Thank you to every brother and sister who volunteered their time, energy, and compassion. This is what union solidarity is all about—standing together, serving others, and strengthening the community we proudly protect.

Together, we make a difference.
