Official page for the Shasta County Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America.

The Shasta County DSA Organizing Committee is part of the country’s largest socialist organization. We seek to build progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly democratic socialist presence in Shasta County and in coalition with socialist and progressive movements across Northern California. We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane international social order based both on democratic planning and market mechanisms to achieve equitable distribution of resources, meaningful work, a healthy environment, sustainable growth, gender and racial equality, and non-oppressive relationships.

Come hang out with DSA at Redding Pride today!

02/02/2023

On Jan. 23rd, Redding Police Department violently attacked Kevin Donald Hursey. Shasta County DSA condemns the abhorrent brutalization of Mr. Hursey at the hands of the Redding PD. We demand that the Police Officers involved be held accountable for this senseless act of violence.

We want to continue supporting Mr. Hursey and his family. If you are either in contact with any of his family, or know of any GoFundMe' campaigns for Mr. Hursey's hospital care or legal defense, please DM us so that we can reach out with support.

------REPOST-----
We are reposting due to a typo of Mr. Hursey's name in our previous statement. We want to thank the person who reached out to let us know of this error, it is truly a community effort. We would also like to extend our apologies to Mr. Hursey and will do our best to prevent similar errors from happening in the future.
