At 12:18 PM today, SDCFPD was dispatched for a structure fire on State Highway 38 near State Road F. Upon arrival, crews found the house already on the ground, still burning. After speaking with the owner, we learned that the house was being demolished and was ignited by a nearby burn pile. With the assistance of our mutual aid partner Prairie Grove Fire Dept., we contained the fire and extinguished some trees that had caught. No one was injured, and fortunately, no one was displaced because of the incident. Thank you to our staff, Prairie Grove, Buffalo Rural Fire Depart, Dallas County Sheriffs Office, Mercy Emergency Medical Services, and Dallas County 911 for their assistance.

SDCFPD was dispatched this morning at approximately 10:50AM to the 500 block of Red Top Road for a unique rescue request: 2 horses had become trapped in mud up to their mid-body region and could not get out. The owner made the decision to call 911 for assistance from the fire department. Our units requested the assistance of Prairie Grove Fire who showed up with numerous firefighters experienced in equine handling and others who brought tractors and loaders, and after about 2 hours, both horses were safely extricated from the mud and are expected to make a full recovery. Our deepest thanks to Prairie Grove for their continued assistance and willingness to help the community in any situation.
