District 5 and Burlington Fire and Fish & Wildlife came to the rescue of this very large and very tangled bald eagle today. Look like something you’d want to do? District 5 is always looking for volunteers! (Firefighters, not eagles)

According to the most recent predictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), we are expecting major flooding over the next few days along the Skagit River. Those in flood prone areas should take action to protect their homes, families, and livestock from floodwaters.

Skagit County Department of Emergency Management uses "Ready, Set, Go" messaging to prepare our residents to potentially evacuate due to an emergency. We are currently in the GET SET stage as we prepare for incoming floodwaters.

1. Be Prepared: Create an emergency plan for your family and pets. Know evacuation routes and safe meeting places.

2. Get Set: Assemble an emergency kit with essentials like water, non-perishable food, medications, and important documents.

3. Go Early: When evacuation orders are issued, leave promptly to ensure your safety and reduce traffic congestion.

Remember, preparedness saves lives! Be ready to move if flooding starts to impact your area.

Two of our long-time volunteers, Captain Adrian Mintz and Andy Clay took the Edison Station pumper to Edison Elementary last month as part of the school's end-of-year Field Day. They provided fire education to six classes, as well as lots of fun time poking around the engine. Thank you Adrian and Andy!
