November 2026 Election
PROPOSITION A โ Adding a 348.1 acre tract to BCESD #2โs district.
Why am I seeing this on the ballet again this year?
Under the law, an annexation vote must pass by the voters BOTH in the current ESD and the PROPERTY that would like to be annexed into the ESD. If either part does not pass, the election fails.
The vote PASSED in the current ESD area, but failed over all because there were no registered voters in the annexation area at the time of the election.
WHAT HAPPENED? The property owner who requested annexation into the district was from out of state and needed to update their voter registration to meet this requirement. When doing so, the owner, who owns multiple properties, accidentally clicked to update their voterโs registration address to another address, which voided their right to vote as a registered voter of the property proposed for annexation.
AGAIN? Since then, the property owner has corrected the issue and Bastrop County Emergency Services District 2 (ESD2) has received a new petition for annexation. The property owner owns multiple properties in Bastrop, ALL of which are already in ESD 2โs district, with the exception of the 348.1 acres looking to be annexed.
The Board of Commissioners for the ESD2 held a Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 16th @ 7pm to solicit public comment on a petition for annexation of 348.1-acre portion tract abutting the Colorado River, commonly known as 1240 Lovers Lane, within Bastrop County, into the district. At the close of the public hearing, the Board voted unanimously in favor of calling an election for annexation of the territory, finding that the annexation was both feasible and in the best interest of the district. The election will be held on November 3, 2026, and will be managed by Bastrop County.
In November, Bastrop County voters will vote on whether the district territory, which currently includes all areas of Bastrop County ESD2, be expanded to include the 348.1 acres. Both initiatives need to pass in the affirmative for the 348.1 acres to be included in the district.
If the 348.1 acres is included in the district, the resident who reside on the 348.1 acres will pay up to $0.10 per $100 of property valuation to the district, which is the same as other property owners within the district effective in the tax year beginning January 2026.
