Help us congratulate K-9 Jock on his well-earned retirement!

K-9 Jock and his partner, Officer Clayton, served together from 2022 to 2026. Throughout their career as a team, Jock and Officer Clayton played an instrumental role in the apprehension and arrest of numerous violent offenders, helping make Nashville a safer place to live and visit.

In addition to their patrol work, Jock and Officer Clayton served as an explosive detection team, working behind the scenes to help ensure the safety of thousands of Nashvillians and visitors at major events throughout the city, including CMA Fest, Nashville Predators games, and many others.

After four years of dedicated service, K-9 Jock has certainly earned his retirement.

Congratulations, Jock and Officer Clayton, and thank you both for your service to Nashville!

Please join us in congratulating K-9 Meeko on his retirement!

K-9 Meeko is retiring alongside his longtime partner, Officer Amanda Fox, who has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. We couldn’t be more excited for the next chapter these two are beginning.

Since becoming partners in 2020, Sergeant Fox and K-9 Meeko have worked side by side, contributing to numerous criminal apprehensions and explosive detection sweeps throughout Nashville. Together, they have faithfully served our department and our community.

K-9 Meeko is dual-certified through the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) as both a Patrol Dog I and Explosive Detector Dog, a testament to the dedication and professionalism of this outstanding team.

Thank you, Meeko, for your years of loyal service, and congratulations to Sergeant Fox on a well-earned promotion. We wish you both the very best in this next chapter.

Enjoy retirement, Meeko. You’ve earned it.

The K-9 pin isn’t given to just anyone. To earn it and be recognized as a handler, officers must complete the Patrol Dog Course and certify through the United States Police Canine Association — one of the strictest evaluations in the nation and the only certification recognized by the Supreme Court.

The process takes an average of six months and is considered one of the most challenging programs in this department.

We are proud to announce the graduation of these two K-9 teams. They have completed the evaluations and met the standard. As they begin one of the most rewarding assignments an officer can have, we wish them success and safety.

Help us welcome them to the streets:

• Officer Diaz and K-9 Kyro
• Officer Ellsworth and K-9 Garbo

Today we honor retired K9 Riggs.

Riggs first certified in 2017 alongside his handler, Dustin Chester, and faithfully served his community as a dual-purpose USPCA Patrol and Detector Canine. Through long shifts, training days, and countless calls for service, Riggs stood as a loyal partner, protector, and friend.

After retiring in 2022, Riggs continued to hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and worked beside him.

Thank you for your loyalty, dedication, and unwavering service, Riggs. Rest easy, good boy.

Happy Retirement, K-9 Max!

K-9 Maximus — “Max” to his friends — has served alongside Officer (now Sergeant!) Brian Manning since 2018. Dual-trained in criminal apprehension and explosive detection, Max has been an exceptional partner from day one.

Over his career, Max recorded 17 apprehensions, 23 give-ups, and assisted in countless more arrests. He put in hundreds of hours at major events and explosive-response operations, including the NFL Draft, the 2020 Christmas Day bombing, and his personal favorite… Metallica concerts.

Max has earned multiple certifications and even appeared at two USPCA National competitions, representing with pride every time.

Happy retirement, K-9 Max — enjoy that well-earned couch life.
And congratulations to Sergeant Manning on a well-deserved promotion!
