The Escambia County Division of Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts for emergency events in our
community. Planning, continuous training and teamwork have been the key to a quick response and successful recovery from the many disasters that have impacted our community. An emergency operations center, or EOC, is a facility designed to serve as a local or regional support center. The EOC, when activated, is a central location where representatives of local government and private sector agencies convene during disaster situations to make decisions, set priorities and coordinate resources for response and recovery. The Escambia County EOC is located at 6575 N. “W” Street in Pensacola. It was built to withstand 200 mph winds and is equipped with a generator sized to power all loads during an emergency.

ℹ️FEMA UPDATE: FEDERAL DISASTER DECLARATION APPROVED FOR HURRICANE ISAIAS PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

On Oct. 27, 2026, President Trump approved a Major Disaster Declaration (FEMA-4955-DR) for Florida following Hurricane Isaias.

✅ Escambia County is approved for Public Assistance (PA) to support eligible emergency response and recovery costs, including repairs to disaster-damaged public facilities.

🏠 Individual Assistance (IA) for residents and households is still under review.

Please stay tuned! Escambia County will provide updates on FEMA Individual Assistance as soon as additional information is available.

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE VS. INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE:

Public Assistance: Public Assistance provides assistance to local governments following a presidential disaster declaration. This assistance covers reimbursement funding for emergency protective measures and debris removal, along with permanent restoration of damaged facilities in designated areas, including cost-effective hazard mitigation to protect the facilities from future damage.

Individual Assistance: Individual Assistance helps survivors directly to assist those who have uninsured or under-insured necessary expenses and serious needs. The assistance is meant to return a home to a safe, sanitary and functional residence. Please note, federal assistance cannot duplicate the benefits provided by other sources, such as insurance, and cannot pay for all losses caused by a disaster.

L.O.S.T. 🤝 Escambia County Emergency Management
Did you know that Escambia County Public Safety was able to build our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) with key funding from Escambia County’s Local Option Sales Tax (L.O.S.T.)?
The EOC is where Emergency Management and other local agencies come together to coordinate our response during natural disasters such as hurricanes. In fact, our teams used the EOC to respond before, during, and after Hurricane Isaias 🌀
What is L.O.S.T.?
It’s a voter-approved 1-cent sales tax that funds public safety and other county initiatives.
L.O.S.T. generates revenue for capital projects and infrastructure needs throughout Escambia County, including public safety equipment, fire trucks and ambulances, fire stations, park improvements, road resurfacing, sidewalks, drainage and stormwater enhancements, and more.

🪵 Are you continuing Hurricane Isaias cleanup efforts this weekend? Be sure to follow these guidelines for debris cleanup to prevent any delays for county contractors and staff.

❌🍂 DO NOT BAG DEBRIS. Debris that is bagged will not be picked up. Debris should be left in loose piles on the public right of way and sorted by vegetative and construction/demolition.

🌳The total amount of vegetative debris to be collected countywide from Hurricane Isaias is estimated at approximately 2.2 million cubic yards.

🤝 We appreciate your patience as crews work to collect all hurricane debris as safely and efficiently as possible! Crews will make several passes to collect all debris, so please continue to place debris curbside if everything is not collected on the first pass.
