Earlier this month, Rachel Pate, CUE's Director of Civic Programming, was invited to co-facilitated the breakout session “Lessons and Strategies for Co-governance and Belonging” at the O&B26 conference, with Jose Richard Aviles, Transportation Analyst and Arts and Culture Strategy Lead for the Othering and Belonging Institute. The session explored how shared decision-making and centering those most impacted can lead to better outcomes for our communities.
Featured guest presenters included Lauren Burdette, Race Forward Affiliate; Erin Skene-Pratt, Executive Director, Michigan Afterschool Partnership; and Kristian Blackmon, Executive Director, Tenants Transforming Greater St. Louis.
Participants reflected on practical lessons, strategies, and questions that can support more inclusive approaches to co-governance, strengthening belonging in the process.
Grateful to the Othering & Belonging Institute for hosting these conversations and to the conference attendees for being open and willing participants.
