Sometimes it’s good to step away from the busyness of the day and simply be reminded of why we do what we do. 💙

Yesterday, our Tyler and Longview teams gathered for a little food, fellowship, and encouragement. During our time together, we had the opportunity to share stories of the ways we’ve seen God at work through this ministry.

This work can be hard. The needs are great, the challenges are real, and even the most willing hearts can grow weary. But what a gift it is to sit around a table with people who understand those challenges and be reminded that God is still moving, prayers are being answered, and lives are being transformed through Christ.

We left the table encouraged, grateful, and reminded that we don’t walk this road alone.

So thankful for this team and the hearts they bring to serving others each day.

Every person has a story. Every person deserves someone in their corner.

At Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, every individual who walks through our doors receives personalized case management. Our dedicated caseworkers take the time to listen, understand each person's unique circumstances, identify barriers, and help create a plan for moving forward.

Sometimes that means helping someone obtain an ID, access medical care, find employment, or connect with housing resources. We even provide mail services, because something as simple as having a mailing address can be a critical first step toward obtaining identification and accessing other essential services.

These may seem like small steps, but for someone experiencing homelessness, they can be life-changing.

Case management is about more than connecting people with resources. It's about building relationships, restoring dignity, and walking alongside individuals as they work toward stability and lasting life transformation through Christ.

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." John 13:34

One of our female shelter guests in Longview recently got a job! As she prepares to take this next step, we’d love to help make sure she has what she needs to walk into work ready and confident. She is currently in need of black or gray scrubs (size Large or XL) and non-slip work shoes (size 9).

We also have another current need at our Longview shelter: towels for our guests.

Sometimes the things that help someone keep moving forward are incredibly practical. If you’d like to help meet one of these needs, please reach out to us or drop donations by our Longview campus.

We’re so grateful for a community that comes alongside our guests, celebrates their progress, and helps provide what they need for the next step. 💙

It’s exciting to see walls beginning to take shape and the vision for this new space becoming more tangible with each step.
