Hi Eastern Shore friends,
I want to personally invite you to our monthly meeting of the Accomack County Democratic Committee (ACDC) next Wednesday, September 2. Please put it on your calendar if you don’t already reserve the first Wednesday evening of the month for ACDC. Let’s all meet at the Chamber of Commerce building in Melfa at 6:30 for a half hour of socializing and to enjoy some pizza. Our business meeting will start at 7:00 and those who can’t come in person can join by Zoom.
For any of you who may not have heard, I have stepped in to serve as Chair of ACDC due to Pat Smiley’s need to focus on health concerns. That doesn’t mean she is not staying active with us, and she has assumed the duties of Treasurer and Communications Chair, but it does allow her to pass on to me the many meetings and other responsibilities of ACDC Chair.
With early voting for our Congresswoman and three constitutional amendments starts on September 18, this will be an important and interesting meeting. We will inform you about all the campaigning that is happening and will happen. We’ll explain the many different ways you can get involved if you are interested. These are as varied as making sure your Democratic friends and family members vote, observing or working at the polls and early voting table, writing post cards, canvassing, representing ACDC at events, distributing signs, writing letters to the editor, phone-banking and more. If you are motivated to help win in November, there is something to do for every interest and capability.
Attend and you will find a friendly community of volunteers dedicated to improving our community, our state and our country. We welcome folks of open and independent mind who are concerned our country is moving in the wrong direction. While some formal business is transacted, we also try to arrange interesting speakers to help inform you and answer your questions about issues affecting our area.
It’s always great if you can let us know if you are coming so we have an idea how much pizza to order.
