Upper level ridging will build over Texas this week, allowing for hot, summer-like temperatures, and little to no chance for precipitation. However, a pattern change next week may bring another chance for rain beyond the 7 day forecast.

8:50 PM Update: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to move northeast across mainly western portions of the Concho Valley and Heartland. The main concern will be heavy rain that may result in flooding and gusty winds.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 7:15 PM for northwest Brown and east central Coleman County. This storm will pass fairly close to Lake Brownwood but should remain north of Brownwood.

Another potentially busy day across west-central Texas. We have a Flash Flood Watch for northeastern areas, but anywhere across the region could see locally heavy rainfall that may result in flooding. And there is also a chance that the strongest storms could produce large hail and damaging winds.

***Time sensitive post June 6th 12:10 AM*** New flash flood warning in effect for Taylor County including Abilene until 2:00 AM. Rainfall amounts of 2-5+ inches have fallen so far across a wide swath of the county with another band of heavy rainfall moving across Abilene through 1:00 AM.

***Time sensitive post June 5th 10:50 PM*** A flash flood warning is in effect for Taylor County including Abilene until 12:15 AM. Moderate to heavy rain continues to move over the city, with rainfall rates in excess of 1-2 inches per hour. Turn around don't drown!

* Time-sensitive radar update at 905 PM June 5: An area of showers and thunderstorms is overspreading the western Concho Valley and approaching San Angelo. These will arrive in San Angelo between 10 PM and 1015 PM. Expect wind gusts 35-40 mph along the leading edge, with frequent lightning and brief very heavy rain. Farther to the north, numerous showers and scattered storms are moving north across the Big Country and will affect the Abilene area after 930 PM. Heavy rain in a short period of time may cause minor street flooding in San Angelo and Abilene. A couple of storms may also have pea size hail.

* Time-sensitive radar update at 705 PM June 5: Showers and thunderstorms are developing across various parts of the area this evening. Most concentrated in the northwest Big Country, and a Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Fisher County until 830 PM. Another area of showers and storms is slowly overspreading Crockett County, and will move northeast into the Concho Valley toward Midnight. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for northwest Crockett County until 945 PM. The showers and storms contain heavy rain and the storms have occasional to frequent lightning. A few storms may produce wind gusts 40-50 mph and pea size hail.
