Before you light that first fire of the season, take a few minutes to make sure your chimney is clean and ready to use. Creosote buildup can quickly turn a relaxing fire into a dangerous chimney fire.

Watauga County EMS spent time this week practicing difficult airway skills with the help of AirCare instructors. Every minute training translates to superior care for our patients! Warning, it turns out that pig tracheas mimic real human tracheas when practicing airway skills. Some photos may not be for the squeamish.

Water is running and standing on several of the usual areas this morning. Some have been barricaded, some have not. DOT is out working. If you encounter flooded roadways, turn around- don’t drown! Use caution when driving this morning.

🚗 TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN
Never drive through flooded roads. Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, and 12 inches can carry away most vehicles. Water on a low water bridge can be deeper and faster than it looks.
