MHS Students Attend 16th Annual HBCU Fall College Fair

Thirty-eight MHS students recently attended the HBCU Awareness Foundation’s 16th Annual Fall College Fair, presented by Nike, in Memphis, Tennessee. The event brought together college recruiters from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country, providing students with a valuable opportunity to explore their options for higher education.

During the college fair, students connected directly with HBCU representatives and learned about academic programs, admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, campus life, and other aspects of the college experience. Many recruiters were also prepared to extend on-the-spot admission offers and scholarship opportunities to eligible students.

The experience provided MHS students with meaningful exposure to a variety of colleges and universities while allowing them to build connections with admissions representatives and explore pathways to their future academic and career goals.

MHS is proud of these students for taking advantage of this opportunity to expand their college knowledge, explore new possibilities, and take important steps toward their futures.

GOOD BEHAVIOR DESERVES TO BE CELEBRATED!

Today, Marion High School is rolling out the fun for our Patriots with a GOOD BEHAVIOR PARTY!

Our students are enjoying a day packed with excitement, including: Food Trucks, a Costume Contest, a Flag Football Tournament, and MORE!

This special celebration recognizes students who have demonstrated positive behavior by maintaining ZERO out-of-school suspensions and NO MORE THAN ONE in-school suspension assignment. We believe that positive choices, personal responsibility, and good behavior deserve recognition! Today, we're celebrating our students who are doing their part to make Marion High School a great place to learn and grow. Way to go, Patriots! Keep making good choices, showing school pride, and representing MHS with PATRIOT PRIDE!

As of today, the Senior Class of 2027 is leading in the 26-27 Spirit Showdown! Students earn points for their class based on attendance at ballgames and after-school events and special dress-up days at MHS! They showed up, showed out, and earned some sweet recognition with ice cream sandwiches on the courtyard!

The Showdown will run for the remainder of the year and a grand winner announced in May!
Good luck, Patriots!

Students in Ms. Thompson’s Honor’s 10 English debated the reliability of perspective in Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Fall of The House of Usher.” Students were assigned a position: the narrator is unreliable, or Roderick has gone mad, defending their positions with the text!

In AP Literature, students crafted Frankenstein’s (textually accurate) creature, detailing the most essential steps Victor takes in deliberately creating life!

Growing the Next Generation of Teachers!

What a wonderful day for Mrs. Chrestman’s Rising Pre-Educator students. Some of our future teachers had the opportunity to attend the ASU Mid-South Annual Future Educators Fall Fling, directed by Mrs. Lori Forrester and featuring Ms. Kristi Rice, Principal of Richland Elementary.

There is something special about watching young people begin to see themselves as future educators. Ms. Rice shared a beautiful reminder that teaching comes from the heart. Students learn best from teachers they like, trust, and know genuinely care about them. Long before a child remembers a lesson, they will remember how their teacher made them feel. What a powerful message for our future educators!

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Rice for sharing her passion for teaching and to Mrs. Forrester and ASU Mid-South for providing such a meaningful experience for our students.

These students are more than future teachers. They are future mentors, encouragers, and difference-makers. What a privilege it is to be a small part of their journey!
