Earlier this month, the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) hosted the Warfighter-Researcher Integration Symposium, bringing together operational medical experts, military leaders, and researchers from across the Joint Force to strengthen collaboration and identify solutions for future combat casualty care challenges.

The symposium featured a virtual keynote from VADM Darin Via, Director of the Defense Health Agency, who emphasized the importance of innovation, partnership, and maintaining a relentless focus on supporting the warfighter. Participants also heard from representatives across the military medical community and partner organizations, including the Joint Trauma System, U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory, U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command, Navy Special Warfare, and others.

Throughout the two-day event, attendees toured USAISR facilities, explored ongoing research efforts, participated in collaborative discussions, and worked together to identify capability gaps and develop potential research solutions for future operational environments.

By bringing researchers and operational forces together, the USAISR continues to advance medical capabilities that improve survivability, readiness, and care for service members wherever they serve.

MRDC hopes you have a memorable Flag Day!

While the design of Old Glory has evolved over time, the values it stands for—freedom, unity, and the sacrifices of those who serve—remain unchanged. Today is the perfect day to proudly display your flag and reflect on the strength and spirit of our Nation.

Flag Day is also a reminder to support our Service Members and their families. We honor the enduring values represented by the Stars and Stripes. Wishing everyone a proud and reflective Flag Day as we salute the red, white, and blue.

🎂 Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Army!

Whether on the battlefield or in the laboratory, Soldiers have served our Nation with honor for 251 years. Today, we joined together the Fort Detrick community to celebrate over two and a half centuries of dedicated service, tradition, and innovation.

From the Revolutionary War to modern operations, Army history is a profound story of evolution. We are honored to stand at the vital intersection of science and national defense, working daily to protect, heal, and optimize our Warfighters.

The Fort Detrick ceremony beautifully honored this legacy, beginning with a powerful invocation by Chaplain Timothy Wilson and a reflection tracing the Army's journey from 1775 through modern operations. Attendees also heard inspiring remarks from Garrison Commander COL Christopher Chung, emphasizing our shared mission and community strength.

The celebration concluded with the traditional ceremonial cake cutting. In a moving display of heritage, the oldest Soldier present, COL Norman Kreiselmeier of USAMRIID, received the first piece and passed it directly to the youngest Soldier, PFC William Jensen—also from USAMRIID—perfectly symbolizing the passing of wisdom, tradition, and responsibility to the next generation.

To all who have served, those who currently wear the uniform, and the dedicated civilian teams who support them, thank you for your unwavering commitment.
ARMY STRONG. 🦁🔬💪

Today, MRDC HQ held its Q3 Town Hall and Awards Ceremony, bringing together teammates from across the Organization to celebrate achievements, recognize dedicated years of service, and hear directly from MG Paula C. Lodi in her final Town Hall as Commander of MRDC.

During the event, MG Lodi honored a remarkable group of Soldiers and Civilians who have given anywhere from 5 to 40 years of dedicated service to the Warfighter and our Nation. Their commitment and longevity speak volumes about the character and devotion that defines the MRDC team.

The ceremony also recognized several staff for outstanding achievements and distinguished contributions to military medicine, including recipients of the prestigious Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3)—an honor reserved for those who represent the highest level of excellence in the Army Medical Department.

Congratulations to all of our awardees, and thank you to everyone who attended in person and virtually. We are proud of this incredible team that makes MRDC's mission possible every day!

MRDC urges everyone to donate blood and help support the medical readiness of our Armed Forces. Every donation makes a difference—especially for those rare blood types in urgent need. Check your eligibility and schedule an appointment in the links below.

Provide critical, life-saving blood supplies to maintain the medical readiness and survivability of our Armed Forces. Your contribution directly provides strength and support to our troops who need it most.

Due to critically low collections nationwide, we need all blood types. However, we are in dire need of O Negs, AB Positive, and AB Negative. As you know O neg is the universal donor and ABs are used for plasma (the product that stops the bleeding of the severely wounded). All these types are extremely rare and hard to get. So please find it in your heart to come during the hours and donate blood.
