New Voices for Reproductive Justice We envision safe, equitable, and joyous communities through the liberation of the most marginalized.

New Voices promotes health and complete well-being for Black women and girls in the Greater Pittsburgh Region. Our definition includes eight dimensions of health: physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, political, economic/financial, environmental and social well-being. Through leadership development, community organizing, policy advocacy and culture change, we focus our work on the following issues - Sexual & Reproductive Health, LGBTQ Rights, Healthcare Access, Ending Gender-Based Violence, Incarceration, Environmental Justice and Voter Engagement.

Soft launch, hard launch, or keeping it off the timeline. 💅🏾🌈

This National Coming Out Day, we’re celebrating Black q***r and trans folks living life on their own terms.

No pressure. No timeline. Just love, freedom, and Black q***r joy. 💜

Happy National Le***an Day! 🧡🤍🩷

Today, we’re honoring the life and legacy of Stormé DeLarverie, a Black butch le***an, performer, drag king, activist, and longtime protector of New York City’s LGBTQ+ community.

Stormé broke barriers as part of the Jewel Box Revue, one of the first racially integrated drag revues in the country, and was present during the 1969 Stonewall uprising. For decades afterward, she continued looking out for q***r people in Greenwich Village and standing up against harassment and violence.

Her legacy is especially powerful in the history of Black q***r resistance. Stormé understood that community care could look like protection, presence, and refusing to let Black q***r people be pushed aside.

Today, we honor her work and the space she helped create for Black q***r people to live more freely and boldly.

Six weeks of learning, connecting, questioning and growing together!

Our 'We The People' cohort wrapped up with celebrations in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, bringing together folks who spent the past several weeks building their knowledge around Reproductive Justice, civic engagement, advocacy and community power.

We’re so grateful for everyone who showed up, shared their perspective and helped make this cohort what it was.

The program may be over, but the connections made along the way are just getting started. ✨

Cleveland showed up for Rooted & Ready. ✨

We gathered for an evening of conversation, connection and learning around Reproductive Justice, bodily autonomy and what it looks like to build stronger, more informed communities together.

And we’re not done yet.

Rooted & Ready is coming to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh next.

A few moments from D.C. 📍

Our Policy Analysts Simara Lewis and Octavia Geiger recently represented New Voices at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference, connecting with leaders, advocates and organizers from across the country.

Between the conversations, connections and plenty of familiar faces, they came home with a lot to reflect on and even more to bring back into the work happening across Cleveland, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and beyond.

Swipe through a few moments from the week. 💜

Black childhood should not require perfect behavior to be recognized as childhood.

There’s a difference between addressing harm and deciding that a group of Black kids simply looks like trouble. Who gets to be loud? Who gets to gather? Who gets to be messy, playful, emotional, curious, visible, and still be seen as a kid?

Too often, whiteness is treated as the default standard for what innocence looks like. Black kids deserve the full range of childhood, not just the parts that make everyone else comfortable.
